Stop blaming Indians
by Rahul Sr on Feb 07, 2011 05:11 PM

First hings first - it is not Indian's that is obsessed with Cricket, but the media. The presence of a cricket mad fan in every gully does make it a nation of Cricket fools. This is entering the area of freakonomics. As for the lack of assertive moves related to strategic matters, it is high time the nation wakes up to the influence of the leftist elements that sabotage decision making at the highest levels. This has been going on for the last 60 or more years. The other group that is lying in wait for the moment when India is totally encircled by a crescent of hostility above its norther geography are the evangelical interest groups abroad, also the primary owners sponsors of Indian Media. Think about the lack of strategic gains on the table after defeating PAK twice, (and after Kargil etc) and all the other strategic failures in foreign policy, the pattern of sabotage will emerge and make itself visible like pencil shaded art. The 4Ms together have very cleverly concealed aggressive designs on our Motherland, that are fooling the public and prevent action. The idea of the subterfuge is to induce passivity in the population until the a threat of a very real break-up and national disintegration is looming right over our heads - then take advantage of civil war like conditions to appropriate undue advantages for their respective communities.

the disease remains the same- national apathy
by deepak marla on Apr 28, 2010 10:34 AM

why we seem so unconcerned or upathetic towards the security of our mother india.
unless and until the people of the country don't start thinking about the nation, we would get the same politicians. each nation gets the politicians it deserves.
so better we spread national consciousness among our people not just for this cause for for a cause it itself. If we are to live as a society , we must know how to think ,share and act together.

the source of mischief is the USA
by krupakaran on Apr 27, 2010 05:46 PM

rs is diverting attention away from the USA, the real source of terrorism and imperialist domination. As s m krishna said in beijing, vested interests are trying to create trouble between india and china. On the other hand, it is now emerging that david headley may hv informed his CIA handlers of his videographing of the TAJ and his crucial role in the death of 180 indians.US is hiding this by preventing his interrogation by india.

We are just different but have to change!
by shiva on Apr 27, 2010 03:59 PM

RS is as usual hard-hitting & gives a shot in the arm to wake up for real! But what is our psyche? We have tender stomachs comapared to China! They are now in a feeding frenzy making up for lost years under Mao & lapping up luxuries as if there is no tomorrow!

We are looked after tenderly at home by our mothers who spoil rotten us by their love. Even in western countries, teenagers are nudged out but for us most are ever children! Why go to the harsh world when the vital ingredient of love will be missing in life & food? Most are ready to put up with homefare & be in the comfort zone!

Yes, the world has turned on its axis! China is sought after by all. They also embrace others to our discomfort! We have to be ever prepared but to keep naming some as enemies is a bad idea! They will also treat you as one! If China really wants to create trouble they can, more than we ever possibly can! Let us understand our soft bellies, sigh!

We need unity but our democrazy is a stumbling block! We wash dirtiest linen in public & bring each other down! Again, the media compete with one another in sensationalist reporting, hitting below the belt & play into others. We are our own worst enemies! Why look at others as one?

Once we elect a leader, accept him till the next election. That is what democracy is about. Identify national issues to be pursued by whoever is in power!

It's because India never takes acton
by bluesshaman on Apr 27, 2010 12:57 PM

India never takes deliberate, decisive action. That's why no one considers India important. We never punish Pakistan. Instead, we complain to the US! We appease China when we should be outsmarting them. It's time India got moving and shrugged off complacency. We will never amount to anything if we just sit around. While we sat smug with a then superior navy, China went to work. The blue-water ambition of the Chinese navy is no news. If we had worked at keeping the gap wide, we would not be running scared now. It's very clear China is stronger because they plan and execute quickly. We don't. It's silly to blame the IPL. It's more important to keep things in focus. I don't share Rajeev's paranoia or cynicism too much, but do believe that we need to weed out petty, inferior politicians who want to "rule" India and put smart, proactive people in power who can get things done. And why do we tolerate corruption in defence? Their self-righteousness is plain irritating now. We get emotional over the army, navy and air force. But, have we ever held them accountable for the innumerable lapses of integrity?
For all his intrigues, maybe Lalit Modi should be put in charge of upgrading India's defence services. At least he may get it done quickly. :) And if he makes a few millions in bribes, I don't care. That'd be better than all these "rulers" who make billions and yet keep us unsafe. We never produced a world beating weapon

Mathew Mathews
A pinch of salt
by Mathew Mathews on Apr 27, 2010 12:36 PM

Yes we have issues all around us, no doubt about that, but the way Rajiv goes about it is as if the word is coming to an end. We need to build our selves up but with what we have. China has bigger resource and money, but we are no walk over. Pakistan can strut all they want, USA will not under write them for long for pure reason that the US economy cant sustain it in the long run. For us Indians to face the threat from outside we need unite. We have many in this forum who so biased against every other religion. We ourselves are divided for get about our enemies, they can sit back and wach the great Indian tamasha.

An Eye Opener
by Balan Iyer on Apr 27, 2010 11:39 AM

A beautiful and realistic piece by Rajiv Srinivasan
which should jolt the Govt and its people into real action. His line "Chinese help for Indias quixotic
quest for Security Council Seat" creats a tragedy-comedy sitution, wherein Nehru of India rejected per
manent seat in Security Council some 50 years back
to avoid antagonising China. While any Interest in
Sports and Films is OK,our Mad Obsession with Crickt
and Bollywood Bombshells going to ridiculous prop
ortion must end as this has blocked us out from the ground realities available at home. The article has
also highlighted one naked truth that, We are Total
Failure in the Department of Public Relations as
there is nobody to support us.
