My heartiest condolence for Great Musician of the world
and glory of India passed away to heaavenly abode. I was fan of Shri Ali Akkber and heard him personally. In 19 fifties he had given Music in a Film AAndhian a Dev Anand starrer, Navketan Banner was also brother in law of another great musician Pt. Ravi Shanker a Sitar Player. In one concert Mr. Khan on Sarod, Mr Shanker on Sitar and Alla Rakha Khan on Tabla a great memoriable combination of three Muskeeters.
With the departure of Mr. Ali Akber, there will be irrepairable loss to the Music all over world. There is lot more and more to write about for the great departed soul, but not now some other time.

R. M. Dixit

Ustad Ali Akbar Khan

Der grosste musiker der welt-thats how the great Yehudi Menuhin called him-meaning,the greatest musician in the world. Its so unfortunate that in spite of repeated requests from Indians of all walks of life, the Govt. failed to confer the Bharat Ratna on him. They must hv had to listen to lobbies in Delhi with ulterior motives. The brightest jewel has fallen off the crown of Indian Music. An irreparable loss to all in India. The Musician of musicians, his passing away leaves India's greatest cultural ambassador-Pt Ravishankar very lonely.A personal relationship which began more than 70 years ago by way of being gurubhais under the legendary Ustad Allauddin Khan-the father of the late Ustad, which lasted through legendary duets across the world has come to the inevitable end-and with that leaves us with the only one of the awesome foursome-Ustad Ali Akbar Khan,Pt Ravi Shankar,Ustad Vilayat Khan & Ustad Bismillah Khan.
A personal loss on the family front for me-he named my daughter ASHAVARI.So many memories of nearly 28 years keep crowding at this moment.Seeing him first at his music College in Kolkata,it has been a new discovery each time I have emceed his concerts. The last I remember was when he played at the 75th birthday of Ustad Vilayat Khan.
The mortal end of this immortal soul is of course the harsh reality-but his concerts and recordings live on forever as the rarest gems, frozen in time.
