Military
by mrinal mandal on Jul 26, 2009 01:16 PM  | Hide replies

Before writing such rubbish comments think that many persons reading it. There is a distinct difference between other jobs and military service. It is life or death. A majority of them may join this for bread and butter. But, the reason is the same for most of us. Also there are some persons who join only for passion for our country. Every earning body in this world is paying tax. These so called politicians come in power by our votes. Think on how much we contributed to our nation.

Oh please. The chances of a traffic policeman dying of inhaling poisonous gases or of heat stroke are more than a Army Major dying of an enemy bullet wound.

Every job has its problems - be it the electrician who climbs the poles to rectify your power problems on a rainy night or the poor fellow who gets into a clogged shytt.y manhole to clean the muck and carbon monoxide. And unlike the army guys these people dont get housing, pension or benefits. The truck driver who travels thru urban dacoit infested highways in hostile lands and looted are as much at risk.

Corporate people who are so stressed out that a huge number of them are getting heart attacks at 29-30.

Its just a job - and much much better off than a lot of other jobs.So stop whining. No One forced them to join the army. As with everything else there are shortcomings here too but all in all a much better life as compared to many other jobs.

If an electrician is taking risk...poor fellow taking out the muck

Who is to blame?? THE POLITICIANS who do not provide basic facilities. So blame them. Why are the people working there not demanding it???

But army is different. Police is different. These are 2 jobs where the chance of losing lives are just there, every single day.

So clear your mind. People chosing Army and Police force are indeed noble professions.

there is a question
by Shanta Ram on Jul 26, 2009 12:58 PM  | Hide replies

I know all of us are really busy in our lives making our living comfortable by each passing day but have we done anything for any cause? The mutilated bodies of our brave soldiers was returned and our youth is silent. We cant even start a movement where we can demand our govt what action has been taken on that? it was that the older generation cared less but i think younger gen is even worse..We wont do any such thing untill we have lost anybody dear to us. Because he was somebody else's blood why shud we worry?

Dear Sanu,

Please do not insult by expressing such comments. If everyone thinks that way,we will lose our country to our hawkish neighbour. No one will realise the pain of losing some loved ones except their family members.I still pity for Saurabh Kalia's parents who are still knocking the doors of all organisations hoping they will seek justice for their son's brutal torture. Please be a mute reader or appreciate their sacrifice else atleast do not hurt other sentiments by making such rubbish comments.

Dude...u sleep happily because of the police in your city. Not becoz Pakistani's would come to your house to kill you.

And btw, it is common information in the border towns now that BSF and army jawans charge as low as Rupees 5000 per illegal entry allowed. Which world are you living in.

Govt cannot take care of them coz they are too busy filling up their Swiss Bank Accounts with Indian taxpayers money and through various scams.

It is sad you do not have the intellect to fathom the sacrifice made by Indian soldiers, despite the govt's votebank politics.

I pity you though, for your low IQ.

I am sure you have heard of Defence kickbacks and Golf carts being bought by army people ? Am sure you know about the arms deal scams by army officials. Am sure you know about molestations by defence people ? Am sure you know about ketchup killings for medals.
And oh I am sure u know that the second hand aircraft carrier being bought from Russia - a vintage model is being bought at a cost that is more than a new aircraft carrier. Obviously you havent.

Dude if you know anyone in the army please ask them. they will tell you how corrupt the defence is.

come on sanu. what if u r paid double the amount & asked to serve in war. respect those who laid their lives for you. there's no job without payment. that would be called HUMANITARIAN SERVICE. they dared to be in ARMED FORCES & come face to face with enemy. not like you sitting at home or office & telling not to salute them coz they were paid for this. will you go to front for CHARITY WORK? everyone has to feed family members back at home & this requires money - i hope you know that. they might ve chosen to sit like you t home & earn easy money with assurity of life.in that case , our borders would have been free to enemy to come here & shoot every one of us. we are not soldiers, but atleast be generous to recognise their helpings to us. its very less payment as compared to assurance of life they provide to so many people of INDIA.

Well said . Thye are doing NO CHARITY. There is no forced conscription in India. They go there for great salary and perks. During 1962 China war our regular army got severe drubbing and were on retreat. On seeing such humiliation Many ordinary civilains volunterred to fight. They had crash 45 training and went to war. People like them are real heros.

During 1950's and early 60's there was heavy famine and food shortage. It was only these military men, rich guys (there were very few then) and politicians who could get food.

I dare you to join the Indian Army....only then you'd know.

Let us stop overdoing it.
by Anand Krish on Jul 26, 2009 12:34 PM  | Hide replies

The military men fought and died for the country.. they should be respected and praised. But such people are a small minority in our military. It was 500 dead out of 15 lakh military men and that too in a major war in recent times. Our Military has become a holy cow. No one can question what they do with 300,000 crore tax payers money. For all practical purposes it is great salary, perks, free food .. free many things , great retirement benefits for our military guys. Top officials in collusion with politicians buy susbstandard weapons, aircrafts, ships etc. at huge marked up price. This money ends up in their swiss bank accounts and they settle down in Europe, US with huge mansions and bank balance after retirement.

Guys dont over do it. Keep a watch on our Military. It is our money guys. I would say Tehelka (they exposed major defence scam in 2001 ) guys are the most patriotic ones.

Anand, what is the incentive you would take, to lose your lives?

You may grumble about not getting a holiday...these guys rarely get a holiday.

You may grumble about a pathetic office....they work in one of the harshest conditions away from their family.

If politicians and very few army officers indulge in corruption....blame them...why blame the institution.

Politicians are the country's worst traitors...work towards getting rid of them.

You are taking about 300,000 crore taxpayers money...do you have any idea what our politicians are doing with triple that amount (all tax payers money)

And you call Tehelka patriots??? They are Congress mouthpiece with many fictional "sting operations".
Let them dare question the innumerable Congressmen indulging in corruption...and then I might think of respecting those people. Congress..do you know...is actually paying "pension" to the family of militants killed in Kashmir, calling them 'misguided youth'. Has any of our secular media dared question the Congress about it??

Nobody is asking you to celebrate Vijay Diwas. But don't comment on people who want to celebrate Indian Army.

see i totally respect the courage and valor of our soldiers..... but kargil was a total negligence of our intelligence agencies , military and government.... where were these people when pakis were caputuring those peaks.... why people woke up only after rthey started firing shells at the siachen highway....all this resulted in loss of so many courageous innocent life...where as the real culprits are still sitting in higher positions....just by court martialling a brigadier who was brigade commander they think that they have sorted out the matter.its really sad.......

A salute to the fortitude of Mrs. Bina Muhilan

This lady has shown the spirit so exemplified by our brave soldiers " NEVER SAY DIE ". The fact that she chose to boldly continue upbringing her son, imbibing into him the code of honour that his late father lived by, even while facing and upturning the challenges posed by life to her is indeed commendable. WELL DONE MADAM, may God Almighty grant you all his grace. May your life stand out as an inspiration for our beloved countrymen.

Although the PM finally decided to grace the Kargil victory celebration, the UPA had initially written it off as a purely military affair.
Contrast the will of NDA to launch Kargil with the UPA pacifism despite Pak terror srikes.
The Congress is a party to keep the dynasty in power whose top leaders are foreign and devoid of a sense of nationalism.

Be optimistic. In every society there are GADDAR but in our country there are many patriotic people in addition to our brave army and that's enough.

We must salute the greatest army of the earth.
