The debate on the Period in which Lord Rama Lived
I happened to read the article written by Dr. Satya Pal Singh, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur in the Rediff.com posted on 14th April 2008 on %u201CProving the historicity of Ram%u201D. ( http://www.rediff.com/news/2008/apr/14guest.htm )
At the outset the article written by him is completely biased and is neither scientific nor rational. It is not understood as to how a senior IPS officer, has devoted so much of time in writing this article, inspite of his pressing duties as a Commissioner of Police of a big city like Nagpur. If his approach is biased like this then what will be the fate of the inquiries that are being dealt by him is a big question. Definitely all the cases dealt by him must not have had a fair dealing.
No one in this country ,irrespective of religion, caste or creed have ever questioned the existence of Lord Ram. At times due to some compulsions some leaders would have challenged. It is difficult to prove the events that have been narrated in the Epics. At the same time, there is every likelihood of the events being exaggerated. Once in a debate between Arignar Anna and Professor R.P.Sethu Pillai, the former had questioned about certain remarks made by Kambar in the Kamba Ramayanam. For this, Prof. Sethu Pillai had politely replied that while narrating it in a poetic or literary form, some imagination has been made and that should not be taken for challenging the very existence of the Characters mention

Dr Singh's article biased in what sense? You don't really seem to contradict the central theme - the existence of Ram. You agree Shri Ram existed which Dr. Singh has tried to prove. So what is the bias you are talking of?

When I say the Word Ram,I can feel as if it comes not from my mouth but thruogh my Atma.
Just to prove the theory of karma phal too we can try frightening a criminal by explaining how the cycle of karma works,he will leave the path of crime;this is the strength of truth!

Proving the historicity of Ram
by Raman Verma on May 18, 2008 01:19 PM

Ramayan and Mahabarath have been written after the Indus Valley Civilisation's culmination. When it has been archaeologically proved that the Indus Valley Civilsation itself only a few millennium
years old, how come them the author goes back to the multiples of 26000 years. This itself is a proof that our Epics have exaggerated the time length.

Mr. Muzzi alias Rohit chauhan, ample proofs are given to prove existence of Ram. There is no reason to say article writer as "Gadha"...so if you can't comprehend the article, you should say yourself as "Gadha"

Is there any point in asking silly questions after such a long time and 325 posts?

Or have you woken up just now, Rip Van Winkle?

Thank you for all your hard work in compiling this article. India need not look to traitors within and foreigners without to pass final judgment on its own glorious native culture, which is far more ancient and superior than any other.

I happen to believe the Lord Rama is God (Brahma) and took the form of a human (it shouldn't be that difficult for God) as an Avatar for the benefit of humankind.

The real historicity that should be doubted is that of Jesus, in the name of whom countless people around the world have been persecuted and controlled by greedy European institutions. For example, around 500 years ago, the scientist Galileo was jailed for life by the Church for proposing the concept of gravity!

It is due to the ethics of Lord Rama prevalant in our society that an affidavit by the government doubting his historicity goes forgiven.

It would be interesting to see the result of such an affidavit filed by the government of any Islamic country about their deity, and how long the members of that government would be allowed to live to tell tales about it.
