A short ride from Dacca to Kolkata
by Kalyan Deb on Jan 26, 2007 03:15 PM

It was only a short ride from Dacca to Kolkata

The city (over a nightmare) his inapt forefathers lost for him

In quest of an inane home-rule mired in a distant foul dream

As he wondered at the city so close to his soul and full of life

Yet part of a much larger nation, (alas now to him an alien)

Enjoying the freedom he vainly sought that eluded him forever.

On demise of the Two-nation thory
by Kalyan Deb on Jan 26, 2007 03:14 PM

Champion of the Two-nation theory may wonder

Hiding his (fez-capped) face in disgrace; if indeed he did

An utter misdeed over the life and fate of innocent trusting millions

By carving out a nation whose educated elite prefers

Seeking a safer haven elsewhere and where

His own blood-kin despicably never belongs.

On the rhetoric of a despot leader
by Kalyan Deb on Jan 26, 2007 03:09 PM  | Hide replies

Six decades should be a long enough time for the USA to have continued with the unwarranted mistake of pampering Pakistan; instead they should treat Pervez Musharaf with the same dose of medicine that metamorphosed Muammar Gaddafi into a domesticated pet already; while the UK has been left with no option but to fight off the inadvertently imported infection on its home soil only.

tired of this meaningless ceremony
by Dont Worry on Jan 26, 2007 02:54 PM  | Hide replies

I am seeing many people proud to be Indian! Look at the life outside our windows! Take a one hour walk in our streets you can find out sorry state of this country perpetuated by dynastic politics and self-defeating elite socialistics who are reporting to interests outside this country. Meaningless cyclic cultural exhibition of various costumes from different states and ethnicities for 60 times or so makes no sense without over all progress. At the end of the day India is being ruled by rich for rich.

I do agree with some of your facts or realities of present india. As we accpet things are not what they seem to be, don't you think we should do something rathar than just pointing out bad things.Youth should come forward to take responsibility rathar than wasting time with unnatural bollywood movies and TV channels that shows more than 70% of time on film based programes...
