what might?
by Gopal Shah on Jan 27, 2007 12:32 AM  | Hide replies

What military might are we talking about? Foreign tanks and planes bought at extravagant prices. We are buying planes/weapons from Putin and showing him the same, it's funny.

yeah thats true that we are not that technologically advanced in military might, this is the area that our currupt government be ashamed of. they prefer to buy rather investing in our own Defence organisations.

Republic Day

This fantastic display of armament, culture and diversity is wonderful to behold! To a comment made earlier about a person mentioning that he would have been prouder if the armament was made in India instead of being procured from foreign nations:- Armament is bought and deployed to protect the nation, if at a certain point of time, another country makes a better Radar System or an Air Defense System or even a better Sniper rifle, it qualifies purchase. It is about defense, some nations like the USA and Russia have the infrastructure, money and technology to spend billions of Dollars on their military. We are a nation which needs to concentrate more on economic infrastructure as is evident from one of the lowest per capita incomes in the world. Some people might argue that India has a high GDP, which is hardly an argument for calculating a nations total wealth. While I appreciate the Republic Day celebrations, Corruption in India extends right from the lowest to the highest levels, both in government as well as personal undertakings. If people in India were less corrupt, the nation would have more money for its betterment than an individual increasing his personal wealth and luxuries by dishonest means. The only way India can move forward is to enforce strict measures against corruption. The 5 year plans or various other measures for eradicating poverty or for improving social and economic infrastructure will be greatly more effective if 'CORRUPTION' was reduced to a minimum. These are my personal thoughts from experience. I love my country India and wish it all the best. HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY!! Jai Shri Ram

For me, my Country is great. There may be corruption, there may be poverty, but I dont believe in running down my Country. There are many great things about my Country. My Country was not born in 1776, it was born thousands of years ago. I am proud of It and am willing to kill for It. God bless India.
