Light at the end of the tunnel
by tchornobog cabal on Jan 25, 2007 12:18 PM

Finally someone said it loud. This is long overdue and its to ensure India is in step with the rest of the world. I hope someone steps in for some reforms and loosens the current political setup and making it a looser fedaration with states having complete power with the center only kept for defence, nothing more. It should be visible that we are atleast 29 different kind of people in one country, this attempted homogenisation is making us all crawl like elephants when infact with joined hands we would be true tigers. Repealing draconian powers enabling ministers/bureaucrats treating us like children/vassals, free up the economy. We should get over our fears of change for change is the only constant!

YES MUST BE CHANGE
by bhavesh dave on Jan 25, 2007 12:14 PM

Yes it must change now days. the Indian constitution is long over due.I thought in a democratic(Bigest?) country every one should enjoy the equal rights and oppertunity regardless of their religion ,race, colour etc.( I mean be treated the same). In reality it is not. How long can we afford to carry on like this,so that the political parties play the vote game and try to stay in power as long as possible. After all no body can take a single cent with them after death, but leave all the problems(divided people) for the next generation to solve.

Re-write Our Costitution
by Brilliant M on Jan 25, 2007 12:14 PM

Yes, it is time to review the weak sections of our constitution. It is entirly based on old British Constitution.First of all make a commom civil code.Gradually the reservation based on religion and caste must be stopped.Let it be based on financial stability. We must follow other countries in tackling political corruption and also atleast graduation should be a must for the candidates to contest in elections.

by pradeep ja on Jan 25, 2007 12:13 PM

Yes the constitution should be changed for a better India .In the newer contitution there should be total removal of reservation in the name of religion in the name of backward .. if the reservation is abolished then there will be no threat for India again dividing our nation in the name of religion and other type of reservation then in the every comman citizen mind will dont have we are from this caste or that there will come unity in our mind and nation will be united to make our country a devloped one .. there should be equal opportunity to all of the Indians .we should not tell that we from this religion or that there should be a equal mindset in every fellow citizen of our country .. and there will be no politcal game over in the name of religion first we should make changes in our reservation plocy and total abolishment of reservation ....so then only our Country can develop or else its progress will be nill

Constitution should be RE-Written
by unnikrishnan kurup on Jan 25, 2007 12:12 PM  | Hide replies

Yes, Of course the Indian Constitution should be amended. It should remove the caste difference and reservation for OBC/BC/SC & ST. Concession in education till H.S.C. should be given. Not on job reservation or on election to local bodies or parliament etc. The politician should be given a bench mark on contesting election by giving only 3 chances and their work. If the candidate wants to conduct the election there should be a rule stating that person whose wealth is more 25 lakh can't contest the election. He should have an experience in service (Employed previously) so that he can understand the problem of common man like wtae problem, road, etc. If found corrupted the Indian Citizen should be punsihed by cutting their arms and legs.

We have one of the best and detailed constitution, which has ability to ensures fair treatment to all citozens. What we need is stop indesriminate selfish and politically motivated changes and each one of us following it in spirits than bending the words for ones own onterest.

Need political change not constitutional
by Nexus India on Jan 25, 2007 12:10 PM

Yes we do need some changes in constitution but the major change is required in India's political system. Its standard has touched nadir and country needs a complete political revolution. No constitutional change can make things better unless the political system is changed because changes will be done by people who have no purpose of life except clinging to chair for which they go to any extent.Constitutional change in hands of such iltiterate and selfish monsters will be a total disaster.Better not give them any such opportunity.I believe debate should begin on how to do acomplete overhauling of our political system.

I think the constitution need change and need to be more strict
by on Jan 25, 2007 12:10 PM

Its been seen that the current constitution has plenty of loop wholes and a rich person or person with power can get away using these loop wholes. We need something which will punish culprit with maximum and strict punishment and the trail should happen in fix time frame. Also the politicians should be treated like any other person.

New Constituion - sure!!
by som nag on Jan 25, 2007 12:07 PM

I think that we have learnt a lot in the past 60 years. The new Constitution must address a new political class elected through a process that is followed in the US and not UK/ India. The style of governance too must be based on the US module i.e the supremacy must vest with the President. Corruption must be weeded out and vote bank politics of religion, caste, creed, religion must have no place in the new constitution. Law and order must be made central and accountability must be given top priority. Its time Indians are treated as Global Citizens and not as someone's fiefdom.
