Change of constitution

There is a saying, 'Bad carpenter blames the tool'. I would like to ask just a few questions: Do the Hon'ble legislators and members of parliament ever read our Constitution ? Do any of them have a copy of the Constitution ? How much time does an Hon'ble representative devote every day to explore his/her role in nation building ? The issues like office-of-profit, cash for querry, changing from one party to another, remaining absent during the sessions etc. show a lack of commitment on the part of our Hon'ble representatives, otherwise a wonderful country like ours with tremendous manpower and natuaral resources can not lie at the bottom so far as development is concerned. It is painful to think that there is no organised efforts for adequate healtrh care, literacy, network of good roads, although we are at the verge of leaping into a new era of great technology.

rewrite constitution?
by swm pnn on Jan 28, 2007 09:47 PM

As one eminent leader remrked - samvidhan banaye jate hain hote naheen hain, asserting it as some kind of revelation that dawns upon us from the perfect omniscient being, may not be consistent in this age of activism and dynamism. Instead of a divergent and perpitually reciprocating bulk through numerous amendment and repealing -rewriting turns out to be the only rational solution.

REVISED CONSTITUTION
by hanif mohammed on Jan 28, 2007 03:55 PM

My take on this is - YES.
However, it should be put to national referendum and let India decide - Eligibility of participants or voters should be between 18 to 45 years of age group.

A Constitution is only as good as its application. France has changed its entire Constitution five times, the United States not once. Just because we can write a Constitution does not mean we must. This one has imperfections, as do all, but minor amendments are more in order than a total rehaul.

American Govt. irrespective of political parties clings onto Abraham Lincoln's Gettysberg proclaimation, 'Govt. of the people, by the people and for the people.' If one is committed to do good there is no barrier, no huddles and no limit. On the other hand, if one wants to cling on to power by hook or by crook, one would like to even out the path often by bulldozers. Let our Hon'ble representatives try to leave marks on the sands of time by hard and honest work.

Change the constitution of India to Safeguard the interest of all indian citizen
by Chandran Peechulli on Jan 26, 2007 11:26 PM

Seafarers who bring in considerable foreign- exchange to their country, are totally neglected. Seamen have no voting rights, the poor national shipping administration have no fool proof system for those who set sail and how many returned during a set period. Indian National Database of seafarers though introduced is not foolproof.A thorough change in infrastructure needed with a realistic vision for inducting competent person not mere competency holders certified for ship's operation and maintenance to perform national shipping administration and undergraduates to administer maritime colleges and academies in lieu of UGC.

Dear country men who believe in equal rights for all citizens..
This can not be dicussed by minority governments whether at the centre or at the states. You will hardly find a party with a popular support and forming its govt on a majority. In this confused state of affairs, if we try to rewrite the constitution, it will only amount to vested interests playing a part and messing up the whole thing. Let us wait for the refinement of our political system and till then SC will safegaurd our fundamental rights

Change the constitution of India to Safeguard Men
by Vinayak V on Jan 25, 2007 08:05 PM  | Hide replies

YES ...SAFEGUARDS TO MEN are needed !!

I am NOT joking

The existing constitution was written in a day and age when women [in general] had little or NO income and little or no education

Basically they [in those days 57 years ago] we dependent on men

Now women have become independent

They are so independent that they are throwing their in laws out of their homes

ELDERS ARE ABUSED AND THROWN ON THE STREET BY IRATE DAUGHTER IN LAWS. It is these elders who need protection .

Stupid laws like the Domestic violence act are being promulgated to generate an industry, a WIFE caring industry where ANYONE AND EVERYONE wants to call himself a "..protection officer.." (i.e.) protector of other's wife.... and in the process make money from the harassed husband

10s of 1000s of false 498A cases have been filed all over India

1000s of Innocent men have been harassed

Men and women are and HAVE TO BE equal under the constitution

SCRAP ARTICLE 15(3) of this old constitution IMMEDIATELY

PROVIDE PROTECTION TO ELDERS IN THE CONSTITUTION IMMEDIATELY

Change is required very badly not to safeguard men and women only but to save nation. Our national leader are ruining nation. They should be educated before deciding fate of men and women. There should be some education qulification and accountabilety to all. if there are doing some good work let them do it as we required that too. there should not be any differance in caste or community. All are indian first and last

Merits must Rule - I never cheat by taking benefits of reservations.
by on Jan 25, 2007 07:19 PM  | Hide replies

I was eligible for reservation, when I had to choose my education and my job but I always have seen reservation as a political tool used by dirty politicians to condense and depress the mental, knowledge and spiritual growth of those whom they identify as eligible for reservations.
I compete openly - life is a challenge and we all must face it bravely. Our bravery is lost and shadowed if we use a political tool like reservation. We don't live a real life then. When the world is opening all borders, we must sharpen our edges to compete globally and not shelter under reservations. Those who favour and use reservation will be thrown away in global stream of challenge.
I appreciate the article and opportunity to pass on my message to my friends and brothers and sisters who thinks reservation is blessing for them but reality is different in global sense.
PLEASE RAISE ABOVE RESERVATIONS.
