Sania is improving day by day. One day she will be in top 10 rankings. But things like this will disturb her. Dress is comfort. When her own parents dont mind why this people worry? enough

Sania dress code
by ajay p singh on Sep 17, 2005 08:37 PM

The maulvi who dictated the terms of dress code for a Indian girl has his own belief and thoughts. We respect them in highest esteem - It's democracy.

Does democracy really means to view their beliefs and thoughts even it goes against the five fundamentals rights of a citizen. I am certainly belive that Sania must not have asked Maulvi for a openion for the dress code hence he must mind his own business.

The law agencies must be activated to ensure the freedom of the citizens.

We dont want our country to go to moon or posess nukes to show around the world. We just want a free secular india where every life is cared, nurtured and respected.

sania's dress- whose is the maulavi

I really would be happy to know the name and address of the maolavi who has made this declaration. Reason: He needs to be beaten in public for making a statement like this. It is these people like bin laden who have and are continuing to insult our religion.
Sania mirza has made muslims all over the world proud of her. She is an excellent tennis player and whatever she is personally thats her problem: I wish her all the best for her and tennis. She is the "SABATINI" of today

...and I think TVR deserves the same. The Moulvi did something bad but still worse: a responsible Journalist of his cadre, Mr. TVR is trying to sensationalize the issue.

Where there is a will

As has been ably pointed out by a few, below-knee dress is not going to impede Sania in any way. The real question is whether good girls can be tempted to give up decent behaviour to create history. She has to choose between Steffi who refused to be photographed nude for a magazine and the likes of Myskina and Kournikova. There is an increasing tendency to be blinded by success. The likes of Mallika and Preeti Jain are the result of this mindset. The attitude is that once you are successful no one will ask how you got there and if someone asks, you will have enough money and power to shut him up. The dress that Sania wears is purely revelatory in spirit. It is so body hugging that it itself will hinder her free movement and it hides nothing. Even women footballers were slated to wear such skimpy outfits to popularize the game but thankfully no such scheme has materialized. The difference is stark when you compare the dresses of players of volley ball and beach volleyball which is more for display of body than anything else. This is part of a whole new pattern of exploiting female bodies in the name of comfort and freedom, on the ramp, which Sania recently refused.

Sania, the new idol of media
by prasannan kp on Sep 17, 2005 06:15 PM

Why when a an arablic named girl plays all fuss about Religion and dress code. Yes Religion always has some rules, when they are violationg offcourse they are throwing their religion. Who cares. After all its a total submission to god for better here after life. If u r not submissive to earn more money, more fame, more glamour leave it. Its not an issue to discuss. How many girls are nude in beaches, try to locate some arabian names and let us have more celebration.............

Leave Sania alone..
by arjun on Sep 17, 2005 06:03 PM

It is high time that the so called religion and moral code gate keepers keep off Sania and let her continue the great work on tennis courts. I think India should start supporting talent and at least have some measures to prevent unnecessary hurdles in talented individuals. It is one thing to help build talent in creative fields and another to prevent such unwanted distractions to individuals who are breaking sweat to make a mark in their choosen field.

why the hue and cry
by amit on Sep 17, 2005 05:54 PM

I dont understand all the hue and cry being made about sanias dress wardrobe.Compared to the sharapovas and the hutchnovas she is dressed like a nun.If u dont believe me just watch the little number hutchnova was wearing.Yes of course her tee shirts are definately over the top but it is just a shy girl wanting a bit of attention.Let us give her that she deserves all the attention she is getting.
