What Islam Says? continuation ...

Dear sister Sania, if at all u read this, Please suppplicate to Allah asking Him to give you the strength to play tennis wearing more modest clothes and if impossible then refrain from playing it. I know it is not easy to do that if you think tennis is more closer than Islam, but I am sure it will be possible if you put Islam in first place.Allah will make it easy for you and surely Allah will reward you in this world & Hereafter for this sacrifice of worldly benefit of yours for the sake of Allah & His religion Islam. We as muslims today love Allah & obey the a few commandments & disobey rest, which we dont realise until we seek Islamic knowledge from Quran & hadith.May Allah give us the ability to increase our knowledge.Amen.
Thanks to Allah!for giving me a chance to convey a message of Islam through rediff.I thank al who have read this lengthy message.I wanted to convey
I seek forgiveness from Allah if had made any mistake in my message and references from Quran & ask Him to protect us from taking the wrong ones.Amen

Thank you once again.

by priya on Sep 17, 2005 02:34 AM

u journlists makes and breaks people. And its a sad fact that u do it purposefully. don't u have core issues to talk about. the article just show the ignorance and narrowness of the writer's mind. nothing else. and he is no better than the priest who commented on her clothes.

Continuation... Dear friends,
Today we see people with very less knowledge about Islam giving commentary about Islam which is a wrong thing. Islamic scholars dont give Fatwa or opinions of their own, except refering to Quran & the Prophets(PBUH) teachings. So whatever the Maulvi has commented,is based on Quran& Im sure his intention is only to educate sister about the truth!

I wish & pray that Allah gives the ability to Sister Sania & other muslim sisters to refrain from the immodest way of dressing & take up the dress prescribed by Allah!,as it will be beneficial for them in this world where there is currently a moral degradation.I am sure these days very few people admire sports especially in which women are involved and majority have a perverted mind. This is the major benefit by obeying Allah safeguarding from this evil.
Today if we look there is a wicked propagation of immodest means & immoral ways in name of entertainment, liberalisation of women, western culture leading nowhere but to decrease in women's status considering them as mere commodity.

media (rediff) should be away from this issue
by sriram on Sep 17, 2005 02:03 AM

unnecessary discussion on this is not needed.
If rediff wants to do some thing can suggest offline to sania.

Ponder this Mr TVR
by Abilash Kidangan on Sep 17, 2005 02:00 AM

With all due respect sir there is in fact nothing worthy of ponder with respect to Sania's dress code. She wears what she wants when she plays ..so what?? That's her business not yours or some obsolete maulvi's. Surely there must be other topics worthy of more "ponder"??

dress code's importance !!
by barani krishnamoorthy on Sep 17, 2005 01:37 AM

It would be even more appropriate if the dress code is criticised for the entire woman player population, instead of only muslim women !!

When men wore half pants, why not women??
Why should they wear skirts when they are going to play all over the field ??

If sport is taken as sport, there should be only sport in it and I feel there is no necessity of glamour.

Again, no one let Sania down.
Hats off to her...
Keep up the great work.

Sania

This is Sania's business - not mine, the maulvi's or TVR Shenoy's. Just like it is not our business whether or not Sania wears short skirts or not, it is not TVR Shenoy's prerogative to say whether she should try and reconcile her personal faith with her clothes.

Faith is a personal matter, and personally interpreted. In her mind, there may not be anything to be 'reconciled', and she should be left alone. She will do what she must do and feels like doing, and if others think she is therefore un-islamic or whatever else, that is their problem, and if Mr. Shenoy finds that she should try and reconcile matters, that is his problem.

On another note, it is diffult to believe that Shenoy has received awards for journalism when all his columns have some reference to 'dim recollections' and other memories that he himself says may or may not be true. Is he too lazy to do his research?
