politics and education.
by sukhijaankit@rediffmail.com on May 21, 2004 05:39 PM

Really felt nice to know that the premiership of the country is going into the hands of a highly quqlified individual.

well, this reminds me of the need to have some constitutional amendment to set some minimum educational qualifications for the ministers of tomorrow. agreed dat it's not the education alone that defines the capabilities of an individual, but it surely plays a significant role.

Or may be i should say that more of the educated lot should aim to excel in the field of politics. and no doubt that would be a great step in propelling the development of this nation and also in checking the ever-growing corruption.

Opinion about our new PM
by SanthoshKumar.S on May 21, 2004 05:11 PM

Congratulations to Dr.Manmohan Singh for taking up the reins of the largest democracy in the world.

I, as every Indian ought to be, am proud that a well-educated and experienced politician known for his cleanliness in politics is going to lead the nation. Mere education cannot instill leadership qualities in a person; it is his experience in governing the nation when it was on the brim of bankruptcy and his respect for other politicians that gives him a salute not just from Indians but the entire world.

All the best to our beloved PrimeMinister-designate.

Education does not matter
by Akila on May 21, 2004 04:44 PM

Dear Rediff,

It is a nice attempt to bring out educational qualifications of our PMs. But my opinion is that education does not matter, but the conscience matters. If u wish to serve the country u can do it with help of some other educated. U can never work with conscience of others. I wud like to put forward the name of Mr. Kamaraj, the then Tamilnadu CM and Congress President as the best eg. for this.

according to the web page Mr.lal bahadur Shashtri had to leave his studies at 16 but still he proved himself as one of the best PMs.so i dont think we need doctors or engineers to become PM. the essential quality our PM should have is that he should be a good a administrator and observer.

First best coincidence of highly qualified first citizens of India!
by Rama Rao on May 21, 2004 04:22 PM

Its very delightful to know that we've got highest qualified PM till now, only after a great drama which caused trauma to majority Indians on the earth.

Now India shall become a super power under the able guidance of our first citizen Dr.Abdul Kalam and PM Dr. Manmohan singh. Both are highly qualified and already had their impact on India's development in their respective fields.
