Unbelievable
by Raidu on May 20, 2004 06:15 AM

It is quite sad to see the state of affairs in India. We are made to feel as though Sonia did not want to become the PM from the word go and that her conscience of all things helped her make the decision. The Indian media along with the International press particularly the Western press have elevated her to Mahatma's status.
It is nothing but pathetic rubbish. What are her credentials? The Congress leadership is so abject that it cannot win even a panchayat election without using the word 'Gandhi family'. And the many absolutely visionless Indians care for nothing else. During the election campaign, she has gone from village to village telling people that she is the poor wife of a sacrificed Gandhi, which is unfortunately such a emotional thing. What has been her experience in governing? No one has asked her this. And over that, local issues in the south and a vote-mockery in Bihar and Bengal decided the fate. We should realise, "India is not one family!!!". We the 'dumb' public are made to believe that since, she is doing all this for her chidren and family, she is justified. Is this nation building? Does their family hold the automatic right to lead India? God Save India!!!

sonia gandhi

This article looks as if, it has been sponsored by Congress...I can understand if some ameature party
worker, fooled by rhetorics starts speaking like this. Well, the author claims to have seen politics for
30 years. No..i am not exactly BJP supporter, but sure I am enlightened enough to understand who is
worthy of becoming what. India is a huge and diverse country, you have to spend your lifetime
to understand it. one can't spend 5 years nn dream to grab the highest post.
You speak about some BJP leader appreciating the way Sonia Gandhi brought up her son...so does that make
her eligible for the highest post? what about knowledge about each corners of India, rich culture, history...? perhaps being a good mother is
good enough qualification for the author.About acheiving this success... ask your conscious. Do you
really think deep down somewhere that Sonia Gandhi is creditable for this victory? In most of the states
, it were local issues that proved to be deciding factors. This defeat doesnt might prove obvious flaws
in BJP's policies, but cant prove Sonia a better or visionary leader.I am outside the coutry now, and
after seing people worldover..i dont think anyone would accept an alien primeminister

Sonia Gandhi's weekness
by Nishant Sharma on May 20, 2004 01:40 AM  | Hide replies

By refusing the Prime Minister Post Sonia Gandhi has not sacrificed she is wise enough to know her weekness that she is not capable of handling such an important post. She knows that she is going to break one day if she ais accepting that post. That was her inner voice. Which is very true. In reality just by being a surname of GANDHI and associated with GANDHI FAMILY if anybody in this country of 1 billion people can become a P.M. without having any other Political qualification then I will wish to GOD that in next life PLEASE make me born in GANDHI family in INDIA.

Snoia's choice as PM.
by N.Lakshmaiah on May 20, 2004 01:17 AM

I agree with the decision of Mrs Sonia Gandhi. It is not the citizenship that matters since she is more Indian than any other on any count. But when it comes to hardcore politics and controlling hard boiled candidates she may feel uncomfortable. She is basically sobre, idealistic and politics is a dirty game anyway. But she should continue as party president and continue as the guardian of high ideals and traditions of National Congress of Independence times.

Where do these people get off. His only qualification seems to be "following politics for 30 years".

babudom analysis. Please stop these nonsensical analyses.

Why don't you attempt a 'rich' analysis and post it for readers to review?

Article - Well-said
by Vinod on May 20, 2004 12:32 AM

Have been reading lot of aticles of late on rediff abt Sonia and things sorrounding her. One article written by Mr.Swaminathan which supported Sonia almost blindly, won him in majority lot of brickbats as reflected in its comments section !!

But here is an article written by Mr.Gokhale, who apparently has seen 30 years of politics, which could definitely classified as A-1 cos' of its political aptitude and intellectual maturity. Common junta dont realise such behind-the-scene things unless they read sonia's bography or come across such a knowlegable artcle !!

Kudos !! Keep it up !

But I would like to express ONE THING. It would be too ambitious to think that the next LS election would be far in 2009. Maybe TWO or THREE years from now, If the so-called allies feel Congress is becoming very strong, their enemity would shift sharply and they would have no qualms in pulling the carpet from under a fledgling Congress-led govt. The only thing these allies have in common is their 'ANTI-BJP' sentiment + 'Hunger for POWER'. It would be quite a task for any leader to lead such a pack of 'motley crowd' let alone Mr.Singh. UPA=>Uncertain Problematic Alliance !!

Why is Dr Singh Sonia's choice?
by Observer on May 20, 2004 12:17 AM

Yo Gokhale!!!

You forgot the 4th reason why she did what she did...
Here it is...

4. She is WAY OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE.

She has raised the bar of desi politics so high that losers like you and in every other party including Cong. will find it hard to reach.

Learn to respect a good deed even of your sworn enemies. Failure to do such opens a window into your own cheap and low psyche!

Wake up bubba... smell a new has dawned.
