Indian deomocracy most mature in the world.
by Umashankar on May 20, 2004 10:56 AM

The events of the last few days has significantly unfolded in higher democratization of the Indian system. We are moving into a stage where we dont have PM's reigning more than a decade in this country.

This has a bypass effect of bringing in new blood into political ranks.Vajpayee was a great Prime Minister. But I am sorry to say i feel he would have been too old for the job.

This is the time where the congress party has new blood (albeit dynastic) in place.Name like Rahul Gandhi,Jyotiraditya Sindhia,Sachin Pilot will serve out countries well in the future.
To make a comment i rememeber the statement Jyotiraditya Sindhia made on a news Channel yesterday.

"If India has to become a Economic superpower the Bureacracy has to change"

sounds similar to the statement made sometime back.
"Nothing can stop an Idea whose time has come"
said who-:manmohan singh in 1995.In a budget session.

They both sound so similar and optimistic.I hope these guys are the very best for our country.

Monmohan Singh ,the choice of Sonia Gandhi
by Lakhvinder Kaur on May 20, 2004 10:54 AM

I think it is the most judicious and the righteous choice ,it is for the first time that India has been blessed with such a best suitable and most appropriate choice. I congratulate Dr.Manmohan Singh on this ocassion and I also congratulate Mrs. Sonia Gandhi for her wisest decision in the interest if our Country.

On Singhs appointment.
by Srinivas on May 20, 2004 10:08 AM  | Hide replies

Its a big drama. When she says her conciousness stopped from becomming prime minister she should have expressed the same ealier. But she has not. In 1998 she said she has the support of 272 and she went to President then.. has her conciousness did not stopped her then. This is all a staged managed drama. We can see on TV how this was managed by people pranab, priya ranjan das, Ambica soni and all other stuff. People voted for chanfe but not for Sonia. She should know that. A BIG DRAMA which has no soul... JHOR KA DHAKKA DHERE SE LAGI

you call this a drama.....what will u call that uma bharati or sushma swaraj did....unless people understand the real motives....such immature thoughts will keep coming about this being a drama......has anyone in indian politics ever had the courage or magnanimity to refuse such an offer.......pls think on it before making such absurd comments.

Why is Dr Singh Sonia's choice ?
by Meeta J.Sanyal on May 20, 2004 09:59 AM

I would like to highlight that BJP'S so called ugly campaign is not to be taken as ugly and bad politics.only Indian should be PM be it congress or any party is BJP message and so countless Indians like us. So it makes no sense in calling BJP Bad names. Soniaji should now work for congress but never dream to be PM of India. It is best for her to realise this and know her limitations.Let her work in social fields, campaign for the party that all.Dr. Manmohan Singh is highly educated and humble person. On being PM,We Indians are happy. We identify ourselves with him.He is our identity.Soniaji there is a saying that reality bites !! Please don't give sympathy lectures about sacrifice. You had no choice left either.

Anyone remember a person named Kamaraj?
by Krish on May 20, 2004 06:47 AM

Sonia is an opportunist at best...

Gandhi was above politics...

And it seems every Indian news organization seems to have forgotten a statesman called Kamaraj who gave up prime-ministership to Indira Gandhi (even though it was for him to take).

He was a statesman even better than Vajpayee... But alas this country never remembers anyone who comes from below the Vindhya mountains...
