1. see the BJP list for Rajsthan, son of the CM Vasundhara Raje and finance minister Jaswant Singh are there.

2. Mulayam Singh, Shivpal Singh (Brother), Akhilesh Singh (Son)

3. Prakash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal (Akali Dal)

4. Karunanidhi and Stalin (DMK)

5. why forgot Karunakaran, son murali and daughter Padmja.

I can give hundred example, how Ambrish Diwanji will justify his article.

Sathya,

It is amusing to see how you saffron guys change the rules of the game. You are trying to justify the "clan culture" of BJP.

Who told you that the three top spots are reserved in the Congress? Only Sonia holds the top spot, Rahul does not hold the no 2 or no 3 spot.

Obviously, like Mr. Mahajan, you will say BJP is against inexperience. As if Nitish "Krishna" Bhardwaj had a lot of experience when he contested from Jamshedpur!

Hasn't Dushyant been "brought in to the positions in one sudden morning"?

Buddy, let us face it, dynasty is a part of the Indian mind-set and it is being practiced by all political parties - be it the Congress or the BJP or a DMK or an SP! What irks is the bias you and your ilk like Mr Devanji try to cover with warped logic and explanations which defy our sensibilities.

Dear Yashveer,
Is not there a difference? I agree that there are other examples. But are they brought in to the positions in one sudden morning? Also in congress, No 1,2,3 positions are reserved.Could you point any body from your list who is assured of those positions? Are you willing to accept a Junaivita as India's no.1, in case the congress plans to do that.
Thanks,
Sathya

Is politics a Dynasty Syndrome.
by suneet r johi on Mar 24, 2004 04:47 PM

The author seems to have congress phobia or else why would he spew so much venom against the Congress. It is true that politics is attracting sons and daughters but this phenomenon is not just limited to Congress alone . It is widespread . So , there is no justification for his views . One more thing that the author forgets is that for the first time a party(BJP) is threatning the Congress since independence, that is Congress had a dream rum for 4 decades and so for obvious reasons sons & daughters of the leaders will be joining it . The BJP is just in power for the last 6 to 7 years . Moreover the top leadership's sons & daughters are allready settled in various fields . Let me cite two examples where the BJP hierarchy's kin is supposed to helping their peers in politics . The PM's son-in-law is said to look after many issues and is also being cited by opposition parties many a time. The Deputy PM's daughter is accompanying him on his yatra . What then , is this called Mr Author ?

BJP is not at all different. What about Vasundhara Raje?Jaswant Singh`s son is also contesting? Is it not a dynasty rule? Please note that there are plenty scams took place during BJP rule. But one thing is there it is a only hi-tech party in India as they have started live telecast of bribe taking seremony.

Indeed one of the very important points to be considered
by Amol Mirajgaonkar on Mar 24, 2004 04:42 PM

But its a bit of challenge to make sure these things reach out to people who actually do vote, and I really doubt how many of the ones reading this page are actually going to cast their vote. The challenge in a democracy like one in India is ensuring that those who actually do vote (majority still from rural areas & poor literacy levels) are capable of understanding and reasoning for doing so & its tough indeed. The day we get to achieve this we will have a government ensuring our progress, until then its just being lucky if at all.

Congress is a Family Run Business

BJP Leaders are going ridiculous and shameless to par the limits. It reminds the old saying: "Politics is the last means of a scoundral". Please take it as a challange, Dear BJP, can you score 50 seats without making a coalation? You should open your eyes wide, the Indian people will not forgive you. Please look back into the history of world politics, and it never forgave to any party that deviated from the path of justice. You can just remember the example of Benezir Bhuto, who came into power through ballot.

You may have got everything to India and Congress might have lootting the entire nation for the last 50 years. But note that the Gandhi family is a loved one by the entire India, that does not mean that the 35-40% people who voted them last elections were fools and uneducated!

Best Wishes,
Gigimon MV
