A party for the families
by srikanth on Mar 25, 2004 12:25 PM

Certainly I agrey with Ambarish but when no body is their to take forward (party) why don't rahul can involve in party politics?. the same comments were heard when indira gandhi took the charge from her father nehru ,was she did't rule india with full confidence and determination? and also she focused as a world's most famous leader. let we take the example of rajiv gandi even though he was a young he made the country proud in his regim through administration. hence the families is not important we have to see who is the right person to manage us. for us nation is important then next power grumbling. ---sri---

And what about the BJP dynasty?
by Spring on Mar 25, 2004 12:06 PM

Diwanji,

Take a look at the following list

*1* In MP, Annop Mishra, Water resources, Sports and Youth Welfare, is a nephew of PM.

*2*.Smt. Karuna Shukla to contest from Jangir - neice of PM,

*3* Remember the present Rajasthan CM and her mother Vijayraje Scindia

*4*Manvendra Singh. He contested the Barmer Lok Sabha seat and lost in 1999 - son of Jaswant Singh

*5*Bhairon Singh Shekhawat's son-in-law, Narpat Singh, is an MLA and a Minister in Rajasthanm.

And the list goes on.....

You single out Rahul, Sachin and Milind but watch no Jyotirdaya, lest the reader gets reminded about the other Scindia clan members!

Morale and enthusiasm translated into more seats when Rajiv Gandhi stepped into his mother's shoes and not the other way round as you write. (I do however agree that it was a sympathy wave but please do not make sweeping statements).

Congress is not going to win this elections not because of what you would like us to believe, it will lose because of various other reasons. That and your use of Mr. Maslow's good name in this article, we will leave for some other time.

I was wondering if you too like Mr. Swapan is a part of the "BJP Brigade"!

Raghavendra Udupa
Thats well said!
by Raghavendra Udupa on Mar 25, 2004 08:25 AM

I agree with whatever you say. I'm totally against all these family matters. Its not entirely true that BJP does not encourage it. They've already done with Vijayaraje Scindia and Laxman Singh. And, see whats happening in Shimoga in Karnataka where Bangarappa got the tickets all for his family members and his friends.

But, on the whole, you and me might hate this dynasty, it might still appeal in rural areas, where people exercise votes not thinking twice.

Raghu

Congress, the family business - Thanks, Amberish
by Ram on Mar 25, 2004 05:55 AM

Ambersh,
Thanks for pointing out the fedualism in the Congress party.
I am disgussted with all the media (including western media talking about Rahul and Priyanka. May be some of these journalists
also became so called opinion makers because of their parents.
If the idiots of Amethi make a big deal about that half-educated,
good for nothing Rahul (He has never completed college and never
belonged to any proffession and he is 33), that doesn't mean that the
rest of the country has to take him seriously.
Hope UP follows South India, not the otherway round.
Thanks again for reminding everybody Congress 'party'
is family business not a national political party.
