Yes, thats true
by Anurag Johari on Mar 24, 2004 06:29 PM

Yes whatever written is analytically correct.I also would like to add that because of dominance of such individuals, congress is not able to get new ideas and able to adopt new policies etc.

Economic liberalisation could come only in the regime of P.V.Narsimha Rao, who was working outside the family clout and Neharu's socialist model.

Needless to say that Congress will not learn!!

stepping into our father's shoes'
by SANJAY SENGUPTA on Mar 24, 2004 06:28 PM

The article is very appropriate. It is sad that one of the main political parties in worlds largest democracy functions like a family party. When Rajiv Gandhi became the PM of India immediately after the assassination of Mrs Gandhi, every self respecting Indian should have felt insulted . The same story continues. Feudalism in a modern democracy.

There was a time in History , when political power passed on from father to son. Gradually a democratic system of government evolved out of the wisdom of our forefathers. It appears that although the democratic system of govt was thrust upon us by the makers of our constitution , the FEUDAL INSTINCT still lingers on amoung the people , because it is the Indian people who are electing these family inheritors in elections after elections , and is perpetrating the system of FEUDAL DEMOCRACY.

Yes certainly it happened to be a family driven country so long... But one thing to be sure.. Do we have such young/capable/dynamic/educated and most important (no pick pocketers ) around..
like looking for coffin ghotala/chara ghotala etc. or sleeping PM / trumbling President on visit to china.

Lets eat N flourish atleast...

How true!!!!!
by Aparna Shenoy on Mar 24, 2004 06:12 PM

The article clearly brings out the prevelant scenario in policitcs. Its so obvious that the sons and daughters of people belonging to congress easily get seats to contest from..Its high time the common public understands these facts and stops voting for such parties

dynastic India

In India today politics is the most lucrative business and this is the only business which is out of bounds for income tax officers, police officers and to a very very large extent to the judiciary too. And even an illeterate is very easily admitted. Most successful criminals and the biggest tax evaders join politics in India to get immunity from the above officers/departments. Indian democracy is everything except it is a democracy in real sense of the term. Indian democracy is a mechanical mixture of dynasty, demonocracy, sycophancy, aristocracy, mobocracy and such other cracies. Indian democracy is hardly 5% genuine and the rest 95% fake and bogus. Like 5 to 10% of India is only shining and the rest of 90 to 95% of India is burning.
