Mohan Guruswamy
by Vicky on Jun 13, 2003 11:15 PM

Mohan Gurusawmy is trying to create an issue out of nothing. If some state can prosper with whatever union allowable under constitution, let them do. If he is very much worried, let him advice the north states to have alliance with well doing south states. Each state has to strive itself to come up. There is no way that the hard earned income generated by some states can be allowed to be gobbled up by other states just because they have more people and no financial discipline. This has already been done from 1947 onwards and who suffered - only southern states. North eastern states are employing thousands of people in loss making PSUs consuming govtss money. Stop this nonense.

Goverment Should Act before its late
by jai on Jun 13, 2003 11:02 PM

Great Article.

Only a hardcore BJP supporter would try to find fault with your article. To ignore what you say, can prove to be real dissater for our country. Sooner our leader wake up, better it is for our nation.

But I am sure all you warning would be ignored. We as a nation dont care for any one other then ourself. Call it a Hindu culture. We spend our life trying to look inside and obtain innerpeace.

We dont care if our Pilots die in MIG crashes. We dont care if 4000 of our soldiers die in J&K.

We dont care if thousands die of disease, or hunger or riots, or heat, or floods and what not. We just dont care.

The question to be asked is, are we fit as human being, forget about calling ourself civilised.

I am sure not a soul would be stirred because of your article. Infact you as a messenger would be blamed and people would be busy finding your faults. Its a natural Indian reaction to kill the messenger of bad news.We tend to take it personel. We love to live in a castle made of our false ego and belief.

Ketan Dand
Eye opener
by Ketan Dand on Jun 13, 2003 10:43 PM

The article was an eye opener regarding the extent to which the terrorists rule the roost in Kashmir due to our political class' ineffectiveness. I was an ardent fan of Advani during the Ram temple movement and was overjoyed when he was appointed home minister. However, one realises now that Advani is good only for speeches and razing down old structures [PWD Minister next?]. Comparing him to Sardar Patel is like spitting on the great Sardar. Advani is India's worst home minister and combined with George, the two have spelt the death knell for India's fight against terrorism. Incompetent, fumbling and only good for threatening Pakistan, if India's security situation is to improve, then these two must be sacked pronto. Advani has harmed the Hindu cause more than the terrorists.

Bill J Kidd
Facts are facts ...
by Bill J Kidd on Jun 13, 2003 10:38 PM

The author is apparently trying to dispute the actual facts. The southern states never ever said anything about seperatism, and you are the first to speak about seperatism. Now, if you are calling those statistics as false projections, why is it that more and more people are doing investments in India ? Why is it that law and order situation is much better than the rest of India ? Why is it that education/awareness level of the people here are more than the so called hindi speaking states ? Well, we don't have anything against these hindi speaking states. But the treatment towards the southern states by the center has always been biased. Its only when they realized that the center is of no help to them, they decided to go on their own and start working things on their own. Moreoever, they are doing something thats good for the state's people. Bear in mind Mr. Mohan, the government in these states have their people as their first priority and not the leaders. They serve the people and not themselves.

Mr.Guruswamy!
The NDA(& not the BJP) has been in power for all of 4 years now. What makes you think they'll undo the mess created by 50 years of congress rule in such a short time. The charge that most indian soilders have lost their lives under this govt. is baseless. Was India a peace haven before the NDA came into power??
On the southern states forming a union, I guess it'll now get the center scrambling to look down south & acknowledge that citizens of India live there too!!Somebody had mentioned that there was no representation for south indians in the echleons of power.I would like to add that almost all the prime ministers are from one state(UP).
The problem is....even if no politician from the south has any ideas of forming a political union/whatever,people like you never fail to put ideas in their heads!!!!

well written
by anand on Jun 13, 2003 10:03 PM

this is a very well written article..i fully share the writer anguish for the national security..i am really surprised to say least, when i read some of the comments about this article..those mails only shows utter callousness more importantly total lack of regrad for human life...have we come to such a stage where when some one points flaws in our system we attribute motives to them...how disgusting...i jsut hope when bleeding kashmiris write about their plight and say that our national security system sucks, we really wake up and start taking things seriously than to attribute motives to the writer..hope this serves as wake up call to atleast few individuals..
