very good movie
by sumit sharma on Aug 17, 2011 07:46 PM

I don't understand how the reviewer could give it 2.0 rating. It was more about the real problems in our education system where one feels cheated and the politicians taking the advantage of it. We have seen so many private coaching centers coming up and it has become a very big business where a common man can't send his children. Education is everyone's right and it's free for all. Amitabh and Manoj were the soul of the movie and others were average. The movie definitely deserves 3.5 rating and is much better than those useless s.khan movies. It's an eye opener for the people who understand the education system.

Excellent Movie !!!
by Gud Critix on Aug 17, 2011 05:13 AM  | Hide replies

This is an Excellent movie, see below for details !!!

Message I got : Make education FREE to all That will help abolish coaching centers, Remove reservation from Indian Constitution on the year 2020.

The trailor shows both reservation and coaching centre, so there is no confusion abt the theme that depicts a common man, Amitabh DOES NOT support the reservation but a bit bent towards (given conditions of dalits in the past century), two different things, lot of difference.

Solution depicted by Amitabh is so far the best one, If you make education FREE, these caste conflict and education business will be abolished. It discusses both pros and cons of reservation too.

The whole concept is very realistic and happening in the country. Many coaching institutes loot people per year, teachers teach in coaching institute not college, still, some reputed colleges (including Govt) still give free extra classes for students in demand (though the %ge is very less but it happens).

People should never be lead or mislead or argue of reviews, reviewer are common people only, there is no special course or skills required for that Nor a movie becoming a hit has anything to do with inherent script, many critically aclaimed movies have been flops and vice versa.

My personal opinion, Suspend teachers who do private tutions (once proven that they are taking money). Let's use mobiles, camerca to record and show proof (at least we can do a better use of them than mms scandals)

UNCERTAIN FILM
by MANEESH ROY on Aug 15, 2011 09:11 PM  | Hide replies

THIS FILM DOES NOT ANSWERS MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION, "CASTE BASED RESERVATION SHOULD BE CONTINUED OR ABANDONED".ALL THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES ARE USELESS IF THIS QUESTION IS UNANSWERED.

Not sure what is so difficult to understand.. Jha has very clearly articulated that reservation is good for some bad for some....the discussion raises conflict and no solution..

The solution is to engage in educating kids free who do not have means..and every citizen who can spare an hour two few times in a week should get to some remote village help educate india..

Not sure these reviewers..were expecting masala thorughout or what..do not have enough intelligence to get the simple message

yes, correct. Let the education be free for lower castes so that they all do not have argument of not enough money for education. So, once all are educated (including upper castes who any way get education by paying handsome fees), admissions can be strictly on merit & there is no need for reserving seats for lower castes becasue they already got the chance to get educated.

Aarakshan..... an assessment
by satishgs on Aug 15, 2011 12:25 PM  | Hide replies

The film starts with a bang and also builds up a tempo using the song creatively, but in the end fails to live up to the intended anti reservation or merit based system. The word equal opportunity, merit oriented emphasis is missing from the second part of the story, in fact it is lost completely.
Only Plus point is bits and pieces of acting by yesteryear's super hero Amitabh Bachan, to some extent Saif Ali Khan, and Manoj Bajpai.

Director does not have the courage to take on the political system or Anti reservation stand due to social and political turmoil it might result in,, but instead played safe by hemming an improbable script for second half there by losing the entire plot on which the title stands..

Unfortunately Director's like Prakash Jha have failed in their attempt to throw up the problem that is plaguing the current social pattern of unequal starting line based on caste, creed, religion.

It needs guts to make a bold film, but Jha has none of it..

boss, you attempt to make one. No guts will work for this suject as there are very striong & valid arguments on both the sides. Jha has clearly depicted the same in the first half. Decision is left on you. Plus there is another burning issue of coaching classes is taken up in the second half. So what is wrong?

Indians and reality
by Murali on Aug 14, 2011 02:12 PM  | Hide replies

The definition of insanity in most parts of the world is the refusal to embrace reality and live in your own "make-belief" world..

Are we Indians are even sane by that definition ?

Same interpretation is true for History.

Do we Indians, have the temerity to accept History AS IT REALLY HAPPENED, and not just re-invent it, under the ruse of modern constructs like "co-existence" "seczckularism" etc ?

I think if we start doing that a lot of our national problems will subside.

very true, this is called as History redifined..

Present Indian history writers are already removing many true and important facts from the original scripts, the modern history which the present student are studying is over 40% transformed with fake and distorted facts..

but thankfully the British and American archives still have the original complete manuscripts.

Are not 50% of teachers coming from the without merit quota? Then how come those with merit are keeping people at mercy?
