I think its better for you to stop clutching at straws to defend a guy just because he's a Muslim and his success came after he converted to Islam.. Any individual in our country is free to practice any religion of his choice, as long he/she is honest about it. Just stop your nonsense of writing irrelevant things to explain about his greatness when we all know how good he is.
Poverty in our country is something that can be defined as someone searching for his next noon bread and had to work for six hours every afternoon to feed himself and his family for dinner. Road workers, Drain cleaners, people living in slums, construction workers, porters etc only fall in that category not this Rahman.
Rahman certainly hasn't gone through this hassles, as pointed out by me, he was from a well to do family. He had to take up music in his career because only then the big INCOME of his family can be sustained. Its simple as that..
99.9% Indian celebrities are usually drama queenish once they start talking about themselves, Rahman here does not seems to be an exceptins.
My messages down prove that he has done nothing wrong by accepting eeslaam. ARR was musician from birth and forced to become fulltime professional musician at such an tender age in the shadows of great musicians like illayyaraja, raj koti, etc. Thats why rahman turned out to be such a great composer plus his iq he says he wanted to become computer engineer and got good marks whithout attending school, no wonder why rahman is such a musical genius. And one has to really appreciate rahmans modesty. RESPECT TO ALL

Because once you are a muslim there is no cast or colour, Hindus christian needs to learn from Islam
His father earned a lot that could be categorized as high class. Also he has built a house in the centre of the city back in 70's which is a big big achievement only high class people those days can afford that.
As Cinema, music concerts and also theater plays used to generate big revenue in Madras back those days, people doing the work those days enjoyed luxury. All big mansions leaking also used to be common in old Madras. Cannot see the pathos there.
Rahman was admitted in a school - a SCHOOL only the upper middle class and high class in Chennai can afford. Through out our state even today every one is aware of the massive fee structure there - the middle class of chennai always had the fear to go any where near the school Rahman studied.
The school provide a great platform for culture arts and studies for the student to develop but the fee is very high. Rahman also says he continued to study there even after his dad's death, more proof for his family is financially stable and he was able to buy a car towards his 20's. Where is the poverty there. His family was loaning out musical instruments yes..does that mean it never generated big money???
Finally he had music in his DNA and early exposure to great musicians and working under them took him to great heights. For a guy that has stopped his school and full time in to music, earning money and also talented it was easy. This auto-bio sums up the mawkish drama queen attitude of indian celebs.

perhaps his father didnt financially secure their future while he was alive.his mother was rejected because she belonged to muslim ,and rahman was a lone provider in a house of 3 sisters wheres drama in that .ARR bought a car after he was earning 15 thousand clearly mentioned after he turned a music arranger and doing two shifts a day probably he was a fine arranger thats why he was paid handsomely

Now come out of fools paradise that illayaraja was the teacher of AR Rahman .. he just worked for him like he worked with other cmoposers .... no one had stopped illayaraja to become world famous... if rahman has become the one then no need to make unnecessary comparisons and pull his legs ... on becoming his muslim - it was his peronsla choice - i wont comment on that.. there are many muslims just by names and dont follow their religion and so are hindus and chirsitaians ... so who cares if one person converted to other religion ...

Ilayaraja is the best-even a kid knows this.U need luck and exposure as well to go to great heights in general.Ilayaraja was quite unlucky in both of those aspects.
