What difference does it make to the music world. It will all be the same talent whether he is Rehman or Dilip. He has freedom to accept and follow any religion. After all, all religions lead the human beings to be one with the supreme power call it Allah, Bhagwan or the God !!

Dear Srinivas, what we need is not a civilized religion, but civilized people. On this count I dont think you can even hold a candle to A.R. Rahman.

u bullshitter's have 0% knowledge, if the case is as u tolled, his father should accept islam but not so before him.
this guy is another over rated, hyped musician. all his musics are stero type and copied from else here with minor changes. only some perople will have that kind of luck to become popular. another guy is rahul gandhi. he is popular thru paid media .

100% agreed. There were a lot many superior music directors in past. But only thing was that there was no glamour that time. Only merit and music worked. That is why still we hear sogs in 50s to 70s.

Sirjee, Times and Tastes change. Trends & Ideas transcend. If at all Rehman's music is influenced by any other composer's, there is nothing wrong it. It we were that strict in other walks of life, we wouldn't had democracy, socialism, higher education etc. BTW I have never come across rehman belittling other composers or claiming himself to the best in the World. Had Bollywood better exposer in the West, we had had a few Oscars for music in the earlier era itself. One important aspect of Rehman is that many of his compositions cannot be clubbed into one particular gharana, age, class or trend. BTW, my all time favourite bollywood song is "Yeh jo des hai" from Swades. I also happen to enjoy "Ghum Diye Mustakil (Ever heard about Saigal?)" or bolly-bhangra.

With 0 competition in that year it is not a big deal to win OSCAR. Winning a particular award does not make him hero. Please do not bring Sachin in between. He is really great due to his consistency, commitment and performance. Not like ARR.

True... gone are those of having 100% talent. in this globalization what we need is talent combined with marketing to become successful. Just like how coke or pepsi sells, cost of the product will be 5% and cost of marketing will be 95%.

Easy typing messages but acheieving even half of what Tednulkar and A R Rehman have achieved this much requires much dedication and effort. There are many talented people who have failed.
ARR's music is very catchy and popular. But even his die-hard fans have to accept that his music sounds suspiciously familiar. It didn't take long for me to realize that "Jai Ho" is very much like Mozart's symphony #40 in G Minor, except that he moves on to the next octave at the end of the first line, throwing many off the trail.

Boss, there are innumerable songs from ARR which are wonderful and mind blowing and he is a creative genius. It is his ability to take from indian classical music, be it carnatic or sufi music and innovate, which makes him a grt composer. Let us learn to appreciate his creativity.

Copy? If you compare the notes, it is so obvious. More so if you play an instrument. But Mozart's song was first copied into Hindi decades back, into a song "Itnana mujh se tu.."
ARR is the best musican to me besides Yanni and also Illayaraja's music has a lot of inspiration in it.... i've a feeling rahman is yet to produce his master piece, the one thats considered the greatest in the field of art... i'll definitely get one of his biography books..

RT, according to u he forced before, than why he can not come back to his old religion now? just u time passing here in free chatting board. shame on u.
Take a old tin box add some stones and shake it violently, what you have is called A R Rehman's music.
Why did he compose music and sing telugu songs in tamil slang for Pavan Kalyan's pulli? can someone with sane head call it music? May be he follows 80-20 ratio, his popularity is because of his 20% songs.
Truth is Manisharma,Vidyasagar,Devivaraprasad are far better musicians than him, unlike 99% others oscar awards, popularity or hype doesn't affect my judgement.
