I see one thing common for the movies (Action Replayy, Guzaarish and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se) is Bachchan couple. Just kidding ...
The sentence 'blockbusters such big disasters' itself is not correct. I feel writer/author should have uses 'mega budget movie' instead of 'blockbusters'.

Time for talentless actors to retire
by Sangita Menon on Dec 10, 2010 01:06 PM

Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Devgun,Shahrukh, Saif Ali Khan, Ahishek Bachhan - all these guys should retire from films.

All their films bomb, and none of their films have any cinematic merit either. Even small countries like South Korea and Philippines produce top class movies, while our star-studded Bollywood keep churning out duds.

Budget and Screenplay
by venkitapathy chinnasamy on Dec 10, 2010 12:08 PM  | Hide replies

See the recent tamil movies such as Angadi Theru, Veyyil. Vamsam, Pasanga, Myna, Kalavani, Nadodikal, Subramaniapuram, Eeram, Poo etc., produced with small budgets with new faces set a new wave in tamil filmdom. It all started with Amir's 'Paruthi Veeran' which is a trend setter.

These above mentioned films are box office hits.

In fact the much talked Rajni film Enthiran (The Robot)is a financial failure. Distributors and theatre owners lost heavily.

The films which made in reasonable budgets with good screenplay always wins.

Budget and screenplay holds the key.

With out getting into the north south divide, my mother tongue is Hindi and do not understand a word of tamil but I did go to see Angadi Theru just because I had seen that brilliantly concieved song. But the rest of the movie was so loud. If only our directors would apply as much brains into the rest of the film as they apply to the songs.

To be honest north, south, east, west all suffer from a pausity of ideas.
If you narrate a script to some one here in Mumbai and it carries even an iota of intelligence the first reaction you get is ... are yeh to auto rikshaw wallah ke liye nahin hai ... which is a supposed to be a shame.

if you say subramaniapuram is a best script then dont know what to say about the taste of people there. if it is success why not no other state or bollywood cannot take it. Only in TN you can see that people get electric shock for a woman touching a man. This is not the case with other states. So other states or bollywood romantic movies are different. There is a vast culture difference between TN and rest of india

dont talk abt taste of people in TN. For all they care, you can go on watching those crappie salmon-khon movies which were remade from the south and didnt run in the south.

I actually saw Guzaarish in PVR theatre when it was released. It was really a good movie.
Now a days if you want a hit movie, you have to promote aggressively. You have to be literally on TV, print media everyday till the movie is released.
Unfortunately Hrithik Roshan got ill just before the release of the movie. To add to the problem,Bansali also did not promote the properly on the TV.

There was one serious galring error in the movie.Hrith Roshan was a famous magician before he met with an accident.Mr.Bansali should have shown Hrithik's glorious past extensively instead of few passing scenes.
That would have enhanced interest in the movie.
Amir Khan is already started agressive promotion of his shoe string budget "Dhobhi Ghat".I will not be surprised if it gets good collection when it is released even if there is a bad movie.I saw its trailer recently and i could not make out what Kiran Rao was trying to show.I also saw first 5 minutes of Peepli live which was telecat on Zee TV last week and changed the channel.I also saw Golmaal 3 in the theatre which was worse than Golaml 2 which again was worse than Golaml1.
Honestly i donot what is happening to the taste of our people.I went to see Golaml3 only becuase my family was pressing to go.

bollywood stars charge way too much in proportion to a film's budget.. this in turn ends up in a costly multiplex ticket
producers should invest more in original scripts n script writers/story writers which has become non existent....
a bad movie is a bad one irrespective of the star..
a movie made on a lesser budget will recover money.. but still may lack in content..
lack of script is the culprit here..
as long as movies are treated more like a business n less like art.. they will suffer

Very true. People have enough problems in life. They will not focus on problems of a paraplegic. They would rather want to be entertained.

Just a test: No problem Likely to be a hit.
