We should change the National Anthem
by Vishal Narendra Punch on May 07, 2009 05:37 PM  | Hide replies

Accepted that Tagore is great and The Anthem is great. But the song by RGV is more relevant to the current situation of India and it shows the truth. It also holds the inspiration required to change the youth of today and make the country more progressive. I think we should adopt this as our new anthem or second anthem.

Punch Saab. The anthem unites India like no other. Try uniting in another way, you cannot, so leave anthem alone. In fact, even common people's language is not as simple as the anthem. Youth of today is NOT progressive, they are selfishm blood thirsty and some of the most greedy people in the history of Indian civilisation.

Do not idealise youth of today if they cannot even lay off a national anthem, let alone religion, and their own greed.

What RGV shows is the way the spirit of democracy is tampered....the way the spirit of patriotism is tampered by just getting a song composed on the lines of National Anthem.

Kudos to you RGV. The breed of stupid directors like Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra etc should learn from you.

This country couldn't protect the Noble prize of Tagore.
This country people couldn't understand the spirit of patriotism.

But this country people gets offended just by a song which is not a national anthem...which is just a song in a movie.

Everyone with Keyboard now a days, gets pseudo- patriotic and thinks that they are the sole protectors of this country.Huh!!!!

True Meaning of our National Anthem
by Abhijeet Banerjee on May 07, 2009 04:31 PM  | Hide replies

Our constituent assembly is not filled by likes of contemporary morons we see here in this forum. They are the greats, the individuals who have sacrificed for the independence of our country. And when they have chosen a hymn as our national anthem, they are not fools to chose something which is alleged to be written in praise of British Emperor.

I am presenting here line by line translation and satirical meaning of each word and each sentence. Read it and than make your judgment.

Line 1:Jana-gana-mana-adhinayaka, jaya he Bharata-bhagya-vidhata
Translation: Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people,
dispenser of India's destiny.

Linguistic Inference: So are you, George really the ruler of the people as well as the minds of the people of Bharat? If yes then accept this praise. If no then this praise is intended for the real ruler of the minds of all the people of Bharat.

Line 2: Punjaba-Sindhu-Gujarata-Maratha, Dravida-Utkala-Banga

Translation: Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sind,Gujarat and Maratha.

Linguistic Inference: Now here Tagore states that your name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sindhu, Gujarat and Maratha. Did George's name really resound in Punjab, Sindhu, Gujarat and Maratha? If not then whose names
resounded in these provinces in those times? The plain answer is your ancestors' names. But are these names really your ancestors' or are they god's names? I will sample a few of the most popular Indian names to show you what I mean.

Re: True Meaning of our National Anthem

God's incarnations names: Ram, Aniruddha, Narayana, Venkat ,Vishnu, Srinivas, Raghavan, Parashuram.....

God's devotees' names: Gaurang, Arjun,Parth, Joseph, Chaitanya, Gabriel, Sai, Karthik, Gandharv, Harkirat,Mitrabhanu....

God's attributes names: Venu, Murali, Pankaj, Majid, Piyush, Rajeev, Kaustub.....

These are the names that "rouse the hearts of Punjab, Sind, Gujarat, Maratha, Dravida-Utkala-Banga". Not to say that there are'nt any mundane names in India that do not have a direct reference to God but the names mentioned above are by far the most popular names in India.

Line 3: Vindhya-Himachala-Yamuna-Ganga Uchchala-Jaladhi-taranga Tava shubha
name jage Tava shubha asisa mage.

Translation: It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas, mingles in the music of Jamuna and Ganges and is chanted by the waves of the Indian Sea.

Linguistic Inference: "Tava shubha name jage Tava shubha asisa mage" Your auspicious names echo in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalyas, mingle in the music of Jamuna and Ganga and are chanted by the waves of the Indian Sea.

Line 4: Gahe tava jaya gatha
Translation: They pray for thy blessing and sing thy praise.

Linguistic Inference: So in this line they pray for your blessing and sing your praise (unknowingly
or knowingly they chant your names and are blessed.)

Line 5: Jana-gana-mangala-dayaka jaya he Bharata-bhagya-vidhata

Translation: The saving of all people waits in thy hand, thou dispenser of
India's destiny.

Linguistic Inference: "The saving of all people waits in thy hand, thou dispenser of India's destiny".
Saving from what; what will George save us from? So this is a direct reference to God not George. The saving of all people waits in your hand God. You who can dispense with India's destiny.
Line 6: Jaya he, jaya he, jaya he,Jaya jaya jaya, jaya he!

Translation: Victory, victory, victory to thee

Purport and intention: Obvious statement stating victory for God.

.... Be a part of this great nation by respecting its icons.

The National Anthem should not be tampered. Don't involve politics in it. It should be thoroughly condemned and if possible appeal to remove the song from the film if it is not represented properly. Otherwise day will come, RGV may come across an idea to sing the national anthem in rap style.

National Anthem is the song written and sung in the praise of British. How can we consider it as national anthem in the first place.

There are many amendments done to the constitution of India. We can change the national anthem also.

In a letter to Pulin Behari Sen, Tagore himself wrote:
"A certain high official in His Majesty's service, who was also my friend, had requested that I write a song of felicitation towards the Emperor. The request simply amazed me. It caused a great stir in my heart. In response to that great mental turmoil, I pronounced the victory in Jana Gana Mana of that Bhagya Vidhata [ed. God of Destiny] of India who has from age after age held steadfast the reins of India's chariot through rise and fall, through the straight path and the curved. That Lord of Destiny, that Reader of the Collective Mind of India, that Perennial Guide, could never be George V, George VI, or any other George. Even my official friend understood this about the song. After all, even if his admiration for the crown was excessive, he was not lacking in simple common sense."

So half baked knowledge is dangerous..read Tagore..you will be blessed..atleast read his book..Nationalism..

he is just a horror, fa*ke horror movie guy...... and wants the freedom of tampering the national representing mantras.....??
we do not love our mother just because she gave birth.... if anyone does so ... stop loving and respecting...
she is the repersentation of god to us....... and so we worship her.... only then later comes the love or respect....
if somehow you put love or respect before worshipping her..... then there is problem.... (do remember that .... this is not solution...still
because there are still bad mothers in this and others country..)
then it is responsibility of neighbours and future children to handle the situation in their hands.

so every now and then we need people like ravans for rams to emerge... and show how to live....
so, use RGV..... to help the other normal people to actually come out with methods to understand the freedom which our
fighters have given us from british and what the antehm actually refers......

and not .... please not go thru reasons...... because reasons are good for science....
not for love and hate..... they are much deeper in essence than atomic science.....
scince however great it is still refers to us how it actually works good for us, but doesn't tell us how it acttually
works..... say atom are basic particles..... and what about atoms....
very recently they decide they are not particles instead....... energy......

comming to terms.......????isn't it with nature and energy.......
god , what we refer is atma....spell

it again (atom/atma)... it does spell as atom.....
I do not knwo why....... do not go by reasons....... respect it........reasons get you no where.......

yes, somebody there is right, there could have been something wrong in national anthem tooo.......and that's
why i say we need to people like RGV/ravans (atleast in present case) to fiddle with those things.....

how many people think ravan is bad.......?????
i say you are all wrong..... ravan was internally bakth of rama......
but here rama is villain for those people..... who suffered for the purpose of his incarnation...
but the idea of rebirth of atma... and people is not figured yet.... for which reasoning is required.....
so don't stop that too.....but do all these with the mind open.... and calmness......
yes.... someone again is right..... calmness with agression.........

just forget everything and follow if it is to hurt none.... but don't follow somethings.... which does not hurt other.s..
atleast that is what our sacred texts tell us...... they need not be sacred books..... use your common sense......
then you understand that they are just for non-thinking people...... to understand and follow...
whne such books are writtne for some cause.... they should not be fiddled with..... but if fiddled..... they should understand
what they are doing..... and why......
when a student fails it is teacher's responsibility...... because ..... she did not teach him properly.....
if somebody disagrees...... there is serious problem with him......
and here too... if he is not able to support his cause of fiddling with national anthem....
then he is no worthy to fiddle with that.........
