Are you sure its lifted except for the word kukku kukku. Grow up you need to listen to songs first. The tune & the music including arrangement no where matches the Khalnayak song. Did anybody here ask you to prove how small are your thought?

You are just a sadist. AR has always been praised by Bollywood and much better than south. In south he is being compared along with those who ape his music viz Harris.
The entire Indian cinema respects AR as a genius. Why do you spread poison.

why is this stupid bollywood crap tv channels praising rahman as bollywood music director ?
when a south person get a international recognition they start praising them as bollywood star ..stupid idiots,
they want who ever get international award should be from bollywood ...
bollywood should praise only himesh reshmaiya as bollywood music director..not rahman .

rahman started his career with tamil film roja.
Rahman made most of music only for tamil films. he made music for very less number of bollywood movies.
Rahman is a Tamil film music director who made india proud by winning golden globe .

The world knows Indian movies as 'Bollywood'....all south indian movies are part of those Indian movies..
Rahman may have started out in tamil but he has given his music to movies in all languages including English which has now fetched him an award.
So dont worry what they name him as...he is an Indian who got an award for India.

His tamil ablum Roja is in the all time best soundtracks listed by TIME magazine. And yes he resides in chennai, has his world class studio there and does all the recording there. And chennai is not some crappy north indian city which maps to mumbai for everything. It has its own identity, a solid film industry with a steady supply of talent in various aveneues. So you please check on wiki before you get your facts right

He can't speak hindi or Marathi doesn't vouch him as a non Indian. It was Ram Gopal Verma a person from Andhra got him into Hindi movies. He won the award for a film based on Mumbai life. Cant you see the unity here. Ar was referred to Sir Andrew Llyod Webber by Shekar Kapur and he didnt reject Ar for being a south Indian. There are many south Indians making their lives in Mumbai and vice versa. Learn to respect each other

Why you guys always split into north and south, that caste and this caste, that religion and this religion, I think we are the same and above all we all are Indians. Try to glorify the achievements of our people instead of fighting within us. Whats the difference in you guys and a terrorist.

I am a guy from Chennai. I appreciate people every one who has achieved something in life irrespective of region, language and caste. If guys like us who are educated enough to know all these think like this, then I wonder what will be the mind set of people who are not educated.

I feel dejected guys.

Rahman
by Anamika on Jan 13, 2009 07:32 PM  | Hide replies

Rahman is not the best musician that India has produced, but he is definitely a musician who carved a niche and a style that appeals to the younger and a global audience.
He understands all kinds of music, and doesnt hesitate to experiment all forms of music be it classical, folk, jazz or hip-hop..

He is excellent in the sense that he gave chance to a lot of new singers & musicians, before Rahman there were just a handful of singers who ruled the roost. Rahman experiments different voices all the time and picks singers that suit the mood of the song.

His humility is another endearing thing when we have so many musicians like Anu Malik, Nadeem/Shravan & others who endlessly boast about their tunes though we all know how good they are at copying..

Good going Rahman, you truely deseerved it, and thanks for dedicating the awards to India ...we are proud of you.

But wait opportunity comes to everyone only the best utilizes it. So its now safe to say AR is the best in the current.

You have taken enough efforts to list the movies for which IR composed music. I have heard most of them, and I have no doubts that they are all good. But, it will not take any time to list the movies for which ARR composed and ask you to judge them. Me and you are nothing in front of these legends to judge their work. The point is, just becos you have listed the movies, doesn't make ARR any less great.

We have to differeciate this and listen this both legent music in music sprit

congrats to rahman. He made indians proud. he is more lucky to recieve this award because the film slumdog is such a ground for him to score more, which other indian greats didnt get. But he is not the greatest. Ilayaraaja sir is unfortunate for his films have not reached international fame. If it had been, then he would have won many awards internationally. remember raakamma song from thalapathy was rated no.1 in BBC. If it would have been nominated for oscars then raaja sir definitely deserves it. that y i said rahman is lucky.

Come on, its impossible for anybody to survive in the music industry for so long just by luck or hype. It sure needs talent, versatility and innovation, which is abundant with ARR.

And one more thing. I respect IR equally, but let me tell you this. During the 80s, there were not many composers to compete with IR. Most others were just mediocre. And thats one reason why his music was a relief and became instantly popular. But when ARR came, he had to live up to the competition with IR. And slowly, there were other new musicians to compete with. Even with that kind of challenge, he time and again innovated the music, changed the music trend, brought in new music, found n number of new talent, crossed boundaries and made a name of himself internationally. This is not mere luck.

Rahman has no attitude and is down to earth. His music represents contemporary world we live in.

Illayaraja has composed a symphony recognised internationally in classical music. However, Illayaraja spoke ill about Rahman when he shot to fame initially during his first debut years. Illayaraja should have been graceful in accepting Rahman's success.

Bottomline, both are good in their own genre, but AR Rahman is more humbler than Illayaraja.

Rahman is definitely the greater musician than Illayaraja man. What are you talking? Ilayaraja's music, to me sounds primitive and repetitive. Add to that his sound.. that's horrible. On the contrary, Rahman's music is youthful, crisp, has variety, and I can go on..

What is youthful music? There is no such thing called youthful or oldage music.Probaly noise suits current youth than music. Becoz youth expects every song to be fun and danceable.
And I am sorry to say you have poor
taste in music. To judge IR music one should have minimum qualification. It's not like indian politics where any crook or scoundrels can become a politician.
