I am an Indian and I have been working in various countries and I have friends and colleagues from all over the world. What Mr.Bachan said is true. Poverties and slums are everywhere in different forms even in developed countries. The English man, who took the movie slum dog millionaire, knows that in his country, the local governments build flats for poor people. Indian slums dogs are at least hard working people and they build the slums. But if the government doesn’t support his country’s slum dogs, they will die like street dogs in the street. Because, they don’t know what is hard working. What they know is to go to benefit office get the money, spend that money for alcohol, and drugs. Make too many babies to get more child benefit. And also they know that, for example, how to make sex with their mother’s boy friend or father’s girl friend or how to make sex with son-in-law or daughter-in -law. This is their culture. India never invaded and plundered other countries. So we do not have that sort of money to build council flats for all poor people. Even though we have a nasty neighbour and we spend our income for defence we have progressed a lot when compared to 1947. The English guy who took the picture with the support of Indian idiots must understand that Briton, when compared to India, is a very small country. Still they have considerable amount of poor people and council flats all over the UK. There are so many other countries in the wor

There are so many other countries in the world, which are poorer than India. Indian idiots who are proud about the movie slum dog millionaire must understand this is a propaganda movie came out of colonial attitude. The only happy and funny thing is our great Rahman got world attention for his ordinary work and painfully at a price. If you want to know what is real Briton please go to the Sun news web site. Briton’s national newspaper!! But remember, English people are not like Indians who have got two opinions even when their mother got raped.
I'm English, live in Sussex, a world away from Mumbai. I saw the film on Saturday and loved it. But it was just a film, a fictional story based on elements of truth, but I can't believe that westerners would believe that it was an accurate portrayal of life in India. And it was never meant to be taken literally. You could make a a similar film starting from the underprivileged poor of Glasgow, or of Los Angeles, but starting from a higher baseline. India is a developing nation, and I hope that the poor won't be left behind as they were in England until recent times.
I'm not proud of winning an Oscar for Slumdog, but disappointed that such a bad movie was nominated & won Oscars. Truly a bad portrayal of India, & again proving that we r good at pleasing others at any cost. In a nutshell this movie is worth a 1000 brickbats. jai hooooooooooooo

You first wake up, truly, if a person who is about to become a crorepati in a reality show, if he is taken for questioning on the charges of cheating, do you think the press wont come to know about it? Do you think the police will dare to torture him? Get real man!, when such episodes are shot! usually the channel would make living arragements and they will be in touch. This simply will not happen in real life OK
So you have told the truth – the king is naked. But then y this hype? May be the reason is the near-future big investment of Hollywood studios in Bollywood (just like the hypes of Miss Universes and Miss worlds at the time of penetration of multinational fashion brands in India)?? Its all about business honey ! Such a bogus film....

Sure it is.. I believe you from Bengal. The same people who threw Nano out. Now thats real indians. Lets all go back to good old days of donkey and bullock cart carriages. turn the time back. Stop using Mobile phones, computers, cars, trains, Pants and shirts (time to adopt Dhoti Kurta), sports shoes, Pepsi and coke (time is right for Lassi), is that enough or do you want me carry on? These are all foreign items that we ALL indians enjoy everyday without making any fuss. Even the economic boom is due to the Foreign investment in India. Lets throw them out. all of them and collectively take India back to where it was before foreigners come to India. thats the way to move forward (Remember, Back to the Future)!!

its not about foreign product, you idiot. Its about hype! hype!hype! You guys are trying to mark bengalis with only nano-issue. If I strt to mention other stuffs that bengal offered and is offering -probably you will be no where.
The script is a pathetic one....and one of the worst movies I have seen!
It stands for Oscars because.... 1.Gandhi statue held a "Help Poor India" campaign in New york...in the 70s and shows that many still stand by it!
It has the same racist flavor to it...as of ignorance and biasness!
The story has so many loop holes...and I wonder how the same judges smirk of an Indian movie with a dance sequence in it!
I think the sillyness is brought forward by many of u guys who agree its great...as it got an Oscar Nomination!
And if it were that great...y it did nt bank on so many legendary movies made by Satyajit Ray...made on the themes of poverty....n could only get 1 lifetime... when there ws not much denial of how great the movies were!
N let me tell you poor audience, its a well known fact...Oscars are never given to deservers!

Ignorance? You're the one who're ignorant dude. What is it that was showed in the movie not realistic other than the fact that the protagonist gets all the answers right? It's time for us Indians to wake up.
Are you kidding me? This is the most jusgemental and worst review I've ever heard, this is the same "critique" who gave 7 pounds 4 stars, the worst movie ever. I'm dissapinted rediff, im just trying to hold back and not swear at the idiot who wrote this. Please go find a new career because clearly you cannot see a good movie if it was right in front of you. Mr. Sumit, you are overrated and the biggest idiot alive, who probably wanted a special screening of the movie and didn't get it, so this is your way of getting back at the movie. YOU ARE AN IDIOT!! FIND A NEW JOB because you just gave an Oscar nominated film 2 stars. You sir are the biggest a-hole and an idiotic individual with no sense for what literature is, you just have no value for the arts. BILKUL GADHA WRITER!
