by Debarshi Das on Jan 28, 2009 01:20 AM  | Hide replies

I dont know what you call a guy who tries to make meaning out of every scene in a movie.I call him the stupidest dumb on this earth.Creativity cannot be understood by everybody is proven again. Who on earth tries to find logic in a movie, this movie is based on staggering realities of life, still it catches the dream of millions. Exceptional movie, I do agree it is not perfect one but who the hell bothers as long as you are moved along a exhilarating story line.

I agree with Debashri. The reviewer is like kid finding flaws in some details and childishly cribbing about it. Completely missing the bigger picture. The funny part is how these same reviewers tolerate bollywood masala like songs, fights, etc. without complaints.

Slum dog all Hype!!

Classifying this film is beyond me,. Its neither a documentary, a fiction, a true story nor a love story. I have no objection about the abject poverty shown well it does exist, but the whole slum dog unit echoing that it is a story where love triumphs that is beyond me. Actually it is a 'kichidi'... one is confused as to which emotion should surface at the end of the movie. Only the music is different and great but of course no poetry in the songs...

yeah, but you don't mind seeing them everyday in real life, isn't it?
What is portrayed is very real.so why sweep it under the carpet?.....just because it taints your bubble of life.

Why don't you say watch this movie because yes it does show misery, but to a larger extent it shows about hope and endurement, triumph and happiness within those miseries. Isn't it what we do everyday?

There are people living in gated communities and drive in tinted glass SUVs who hardly see the poor side of India, except the maid servant who may even be baby sitting their children.

Don't pay too much attantion to what the world will think of us
by Shri Hegde on Jan 27, 2009 07:56 PM

what really matters is what we think of us. Let's now get bogged down by the movie getting Oscars and all. Every dog has it's day, now it's slum dogs day!

movies. The only reason SM goes to Oscars is because it's done by a brit showing poor side of India. Just like Styajit Ray used to get awards oversees.

It is a highly contrived film. I am quite surprised how this film is considered for oscars. A R Rahman's music is a rehash of his old hits. a little bit of carnatic, a little bit of folk and bit of western is arr music.
