I dont think many people present in the Oscar function would have thought of including their mothers name in list of credits. Be it Award reception or nomination. I am not quite sure how they might have received it.. in one way it is a bit girlish or childish from their point of view(the west) but then thay are hiding something... one should be wearing a thick mask .And that is one think I like about being an Indian.. we don't! ARR you have made us proud. It was so great of you in having said what you felt! But I did not like what he said after arriving in India.. 'I did not prepare the speech in advance because I thought it would go to XXX'. Now that is balled up/f.u.c ke.d up/just not a good remark to make. He should not have gone to oscars in the first place then.. I cant call that humble... It was so immature of him not to prepare the speech.

its so immature of urself to say that he is immature.

did u listen to what he said and what he meant about peter gabriel. thats one musician appreciating peter gabriels work and thinking that the award will go to peter gabriel. it takes a lot to even consider such a thing when ur at the oscars. he is not greedy he always spoke what he felt like and thats what he did that day. u listen to some peter gabriel songs u know what he meant but still rehman can create millions of songs which will be sure shot hits but what makes him different is the way he thinks and does things.

A R REHMAN connecting people with his music
by ridafathima on Feb 27, 2009 05:22 PM

find a musician who creates music which is not based on any particular culture and language.
rehman"s music is truly global
find a musician who can create a tune which u use it any language its has to be a hit.

i believe there are not even one single musician in this world who has done this wonder who has created something for the people of the world

find a guy who gave life to sukhwinder singh, hariharan, shankar mahadevan and many more he is the one who brought these talent and made em famous.

find a guy who can talk and make music right from hip hop, jazz, rock, folk, pop, and karnatic

find a guy like rehman
u will not be able to get one even close to what rehman own

thats why its A R REHMAN
THE LEGEND

REHMAN DIDNT WIN ANY OSCAR ITS THE OSCAR WHO WON REHMAN.

There is a big difference between inspiration and making a ditto copy.

lemme tell you some songs which IR copied from other composers.

Chittukkuruvi vetkapaduthu
Film: Chinna veedu (Ilayaraja)       Dvorak's New world symphony - 3rd movement
starting tune of this song copied by IR

kan malargalin azhaippithazh
Film: Thaippongal (Ilayaraja)       money money money (Abba)       starting tune copied

darling darling darling
Film: Priya (Ilayaraja)       Sunny (Boney M)       starting tune

endha poovilum vaasm undu
Film: Murattu Kaalai (Ilayaraja)       Cancione Y Danza - Antonio Ruiz-Pipo       Starting tune

Mouna Ragam theme music (Ilayaraja)       'Love Theme' (Flashdance)       Inspired
Veettukku veettukku vaasappadi venum
Film: Kizhakku vaasal (Ilyaraja)       Mozart's 25th Symphony - 1st movement (also featured in 'Titan' watch ad)       Inspired

Seems like IR got some starting trouble

bro you cant compare rehman and ilayaraja both r totally diffent in their own way and IR is kinda obsolete now which u have to accept.

Really I admire Ilayaraja very much but am very much surprised why and how he has gone to oblivion - almost no films with his music seem to be there now. He was a very good composer. It seems the rage takes the scene in Bollywood or Tollywood or Tamilwood. At one time Mahadevan dominated, then Ilayaraja and now Rahman. Of course I admire Rahman too - a great composer in a different vein. We cannot actually make a comparison between Ilayaraja and Rahman - both great by their own standards. But really I am surprised why and how Ilayaraja is not there in the picture at all nowadays. Can anybody inform and enlighten me on this aspect?

Now a days films are made to make money rather than entertaing the crowd, this is the reason classic has less appearance and fashion has entered the screeen, A change is expected in near future wait and see
