Congrats ARR. This is a great achievement. Whatever he said in Tamil, "ella pugazhum iraivakukkey" means "all praises and glory for the Almighty". I was particularly impressed by his conscious usage of Almighty rather than Allah. Shows he is a god fearing man but not a religious hardliner and gains respect on using a neutral word.

I think we should be able to accept it even if he says Allah !! nothing wrong in praying to Allah... as long as AR rahman remains the same person he is - as he said when faced with a choice of love and hate, he chose love. we can learn something from that.

Sonia - He was perfectly entitled to say Allah and I would have been as happy if he had. But the fact that he chose not to, in the intention of not alienating any one shows his sense of respect for others. And that, with all his all talent and greatness, is a bonus that I thought was worth mentioning.

He is the One and Only! the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him.

Sajid Khan should learn the standard of Oscar awards rather than beg at Screen awards show last month.
His sense of humour is so stale and nonsense that it is not worth for any channel to rope in Sajid Khan to host the show.
Ashutosh Gowarikar did the right thing to shut Sajid Khan's idiot comments.
AR Rahman showed his greatness and spoke as an true Indian with grace, Sajid Khan better learn or else your pride will sink you.

Sajid Khan is a genius. He has a very genuine, high class of humour sense. He did clash with a movie director who pointed out a fault. All of us lose our temper sometime. Let us not grudge him his great talent.
I have just listened SDM music and found it very ordinary. In fact cant listen full song. If this movie was not made by British/American then AR would not even get Jhumri Tallya Award.

True.....and no doubt ARR's music in Gentleman, Roja, Thiruda Thiruda, Kadhalan, Indian, Karuthamma, Minsaara Kanavu, Kannathil Muthamitaal, Azhaghia Tamizh Magan was far better than the one he had scored in SDM (4 of his national award winning movies are mentioned above), but Oscars are given to films that compete for that particular year and his music in SDM was the most memorable among all other English films for 2009 and he is given the award.

Ordinary people have always done extraordinary things in this world. Life is about doing ordinary things extraordinarily well. But that is for those who understand Life.

Coolie, your class of music seems to reflect your profession (nothing against Coolies, but hey it takes a serious listener of music to understand the intricacies.
Anyway, the music when seen in the context of the movie is fabulous and exhilarating.
I think the Oscars have lost their senses...If thye think he deserves an Oscar for this ( NOICE ) then i wonder what will they prize him for his previous really good numbers..? Mumbai got a beating from the terrorists and i think some one has paid the Oscars to promote Mumbai.....i cant help thinking of it. there are no movies from last year which deserves an Oscar not The strange case of Benjamin Button and defenitly not Slumdog millionare....Anywyas........Jai Ho......!

Dude.. here is the breaking news! Rahman got an award for a hollywood movie - because these awards are hollywood awards.
It does not matter how many good scores he has given in Bollywood when it comes to Oscars - clear?

Jealousy is another name for failure. By the way it is Noise and not "NOICE". Get A Life.
Performance, Productivity & Constant Push to Create with the urge to Excel is Life. No need arguing among each other. The fulfillment happens witihin an individual. If awards and recognition come on the way that is great too. We need not compare too much but rather look inwards for our own innger growth. Kudos to Rahman. Nothing succeeds like success anyway.
Hey Rehaman, God Has given us a grat joy and Happiness today in the form of your Oscar awards, We all Indians celebrate this festival and congratulating to you all the best and great success in the future.

instead of scrutinizing every single world of his statments, let us applaud the man Rahman for winning accolades for himself and for India! thanking his mother is the ultimate! what are you living for if you can't acknowledge the compassion and sacrifies our mothers make for our betterment!
