In america also there are many poor ppl.. he could also become millionaire.. why india? thats the million dollar question? if he has followed a book.. he shld have adapted that on US or his country whereever he belongs to.... there are not less poor ppl in US....

Again,,,it seems like "Whites" have really given you a big "danda" in your rear. That's why you remember the "brown nigger" syndrome vividly. I really feel pity for you. Must be hard for you.

Roger Binny, pl re ad the article again. He had no formal education. Be happy that he has come up on his own in his life rather than roughshoding him over some imaginary shortfalls. The Americans are not go-ds for us. They are just humanbeing like you and me.

Now I have to read a article again? And because you said so. Yo "kuuuuli brown nigger" be careful, do your work, otherwise "white and black" alike will give you more "Dandas" in your rear.

That is due to lack of exposure. There are hundreds of writers in Regional Languages but the Indian-English writers only get some Awards. That does not mean that the regional writers are not better than them. Let us be happy that Mr. Rehman got 2 Oscars.

Marketing again
by Shravanuniversan on Feb 23, 2009 09:54 PM

Slumdug millionaire is normal bollywood masala movie, though the plot and screenplay is too good, casting and acting is good, one would not be comfortable in scenes where Irfaan talks to saurabh shukla in English. In which police station, anywhere in india an inspector and constable talks in English?Does not look like artificial?this is what they call marketing technique. if the movie was made in hindi, it could be eligible only in one category-foreign language.
Mel Gibson did that in Passion of Christ- while the whole movie is in Aramic with english subtitles.
The scene where they boy(jamal malik) jumps into the open toilet & with full of **** he comes to meet Bachan. Tell me onething- Are indians so fanatic about movie stars?i don't think so. Not even Indian-no one in this world will dare to do this kind of act.
they have also shown in bachan in a bad way in the movie. Being a nice human being bachan(in the movie) should have asked to wash the kid first rather than signing an autograph
and if not for Danny Boyle, it it has been done by entire bollywood or any indian team, they would have not even shown any interest.
i believe its the same strategy how sushmitha and aishwarya won world beauty titles. US wants to enter India in a large scale manner(already Warner brother are here) and they see lot of potential and money in Indian market. Also they are in global economic meltdown which is affecting their movies too. That is the reason for 8/9 oscars for SM?

Well deserved Oscar
by arvind padmanabhan on Feb 23, 2009 09:54 PM

Even Einstein didn't get a Nobel for his brilliant Theory of Relativity but he got the Nobel for something else later in his life. God decides when to give someone an award no matter how brilliant or how less brilliant of a work he has done. This is true in everyones life. Lets just celebrate the Genius of AR Rahman, the limelite for Bollywood and the victory for so many of our Indians not only Oscars but also other awards. It was a long time coming. I dont care which film won it and why we won it, we won it. That is all that matters.
