Re: Congratulations!

There is nothing wrong to be proud of his/her mother tongue. But few bloggers slam that to being chauvinistic, which is not correct.
One should be proud of his/her mother tongue and I am proud that he spoke in Tamil in Kodak Hall today.

There is nothing wrong at all, except that we are all proud ofour mother tongues whether they are English, hindi, malayalam, bulgarian, tamil, whatever. Hindi-speaking and Tamil-speaking people are therefore making a mockery of the whole situation. Nobody talked about Chauvinism, other than you. India has amany languages and all of them are equally proud, ok Janardhan?
Ashokavanam - Tamil - Filming Raavan- Hindi - Filming Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam - Tamil - Filming Eight By Ten - Hindi - Filming Sultan The Warrior - Tamil - Filming Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya - Tamil - Filming Endhiran - Tamil - Filming
I am sure ARR is going to enthrall us with new varities...All the Best ARR for many more awards.
he could have been a bit less anxious on stage. Hes a performer all his life yet he looks so anxious and starstruck. Also, what was up with the way he takes off running after gettin the second award? that was very funny and awkward, he just left the two presenter on stage by themselves.

In a very plain language it is linguist chauvinism in other words the individual is not sure of his culture and always in a fear that others can encroach upon.
Re: Re: Re: Have seen
by Pyma on Feb 23, 2009 11:16 PM
No way we know from where we came and wats the cultural heritage which our language binds together and also we re not fearful at all becoz tamil is a spoken language for more than 80 million people world wide ... people in india are just part of it...

Thats my argument here with north indians even with their kichadi languages are making so much of it.. why not i cant say the real and tru history of tamil...
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Have seen
by JGN on Feb 23, 2009 10:56 PM
Let them show whatever they want. Can that take away the history of your Language? Why are you getting agitated over a non-issue?? True, for some North Indians also "Sanskrit) and "Hindi" are every thing and they have collective noun "Madrassi" for all South Indians!!!! They do not even know how many main languages are there in South India.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Have seen
by JGN on Feb 23, 2009 11:05 PM
Not the right place for that!! The late Shri. C.N. Annadurai showed that to the North Indians at the right time and Congress party has not been able to rule TN since then.

They may be coolies, but at at least mist of them if not all are not cheap attitude like you . By the way what are you doing in India sir.You must not be having any work or you may an government employee(just few of them) who keeps torturing the poor people by your lack of service. Which in both case far worse than those coolies

Mehfil I work in the US, why am I not required in India. Why do you presume I dont love India as much as you. I wear the Indian cricket shirt to work on every test series win. Watch so many Hindi movies. Pray to all my Hindu gods more religiously than ever. I care for that poor man when Im India and never treat him/her with disrespect. Enjoy every moment spent there. Just because some of us work in a foreign country doesnt make us less patriotic than you guys. I sat on and watched NDTV online and was terrified for 54 hours of the terrorist standoff. Not all of us come here for the money, a lot of us want to experience the whole world in our life time. Thats what God would want us to do.
YOU SHOULDER THE FAMILY RESPONSIBILITY AT YOUR 9 AND YOU SHOWN A HARD WORK WITH DEDICATION IN YOUR PROFESSION. THE LORD-RAHMAN SHOWERS HIS BLESSINGS ON YOU, YOU DESERVED IT "ALLAH RAKHA" RAHMAN. YOUR WAY OF GLORIFYING ALLAH AND YOUR MOTHER TOUCHES ALL HUMAN BEINGS IN PARTICULAR, ME. ALL THE BEST.-MAHABOOB BASHA

he has the blessing of THE god and his mother. yes, he has touched all good human beings.
Basha, if you think and feel the same way of your country as Rehmaan, i am proud of you also.
Thanks and congrats to Rahman and Pookutti. You made me proud of Indian in the USA. all my colleagues are talking about India today and they found our speeches very spiritual and charismatic.
In your speech, thanks for taking country’s history, your teachers name, using the word peace, thanks for letting the world know that why you and we Indians prefer love more than hate and , more than anything, thanks for letting the world know that that how much your mother is to you. it is not just about the winning, it is winning the trophy in style, confidence and charisma.
Special thanks to Pookutti for letting the world know that why we are different and what our history and ancient civilization has given us. These days, it feels so good to know that what has routed in us from our history and tradition compared with our everyday life of corruption and worst politic and beauracracy.
It is a big victory to Indian Muslims who love India and work hard in their everyday life to feed their families and trying to be good Indians. Also, a lesson to many Muslims who always find excuse as minority and religion to their failures that this world is fair enough to recognize your talents and intelligence if you are positive and peaceful enough, no matter you are Muslim, Hindhu or Christian.
Also, as a Kannadiga, I would like to congratulate every good Tamil and Malayali.
AR Rehman has accomplished what neither one Mr.Kamal Hassan (for all his Oscar aspirations) or even the late Satyajit Ray could not dream of accomplishing!
Everyone in the present generation and all those in future generations should learn from this whizkid!

AnitaJee,
Satyajit Ray was the first indian to recieve an Oscar (for lifetime achievement), in case you didn't know. And what's problem with Kamal Hassan desiring for an Oscar. He is an outstanding performer and will probably win one day. Celebrate Rahman but don't start picking on others.
Re: You DESERVE IT!
by rahul biswas on Feb 23, 2009 10:27 PM
Miss Anita, You should remember Satyajit Ray was awarded the Life Time Achievement Oscar, in early 90s when nobody had even knew of Indian Cinema abroad... So please keep your facts straight..
