Too many arent needed to discuss this issue...The whole lot good listeners of Tamizh Music know that ARR IS THE BIGGEST EVER AND WILL BE CONSIDERED THE GREATEST EVER DISGRACE TO TAMIZH MUSIC FOR ALL THE CENTURIES TO COME.
Yet , this disgrace produces so called graceful music in Hindi industry .....
And Hmmnn such is what music means to people theses days

I dont think there will be many frogs in your well. i've listened to all his songs in tamil and each one of ARR's is an experiment with multiple cached folds of intricate composition. Suppose IR was not there let us say it would not be difficult to find somebody similar in the south to continue the type of music IR signifies. But a guy like ARR has happened only once in the entire history of Tamil cinema.

this is ur narrow minded-ness.
there are Marathi composers like Pt.
Hridaynath Mangeshkar who is mature than IR anytime..only thing is that he
does not glorify himself..no dis-respect to IR

A R Rahman has revolutionized da sound in indian movies. He is way better than IR.Not many people know IR outside southern india. He might have composed symphonies but who remebers them except IR's fans.If he were to be so talented he wud do b a legend in international music and wud have had many a musicals to his credit but he doesnt.ARR has done chinese movie, hollywood movies. They all came to work with him and not vice versa.IR's music wud have been dubbed in hindi movies as well.ARR's very first movie was a tamil movie but it was soo good it was dubbed in hindi.ARR made his mark as a south indian MD.IMO IR aint dat great barring few songs.IR fans are jealous coz he kicks IR's a..

SARATH CHANDRAN
wierd & ironic title
by SARATH CHANDRAN on Oct 21, 2008 08:58 AM

First of all its wierd that somebody could even think of such a title for this article...who in their right 'musical' mind would even think of ignoring Rahman!! Its ironical because its been 5 days since Rahman's latest release 'Yuvvraaj' has been released and I still can't find a review of the songs in rediff, !! So now who is ignoring Rahman ?? :P ! Not that I care about any review, I will buy a rahman album anytime!

Rahman who?
by Ajith Kumar on Oct 21, 2008 07:31 AM  | Hide replies

Times are changing & how! Copycats are more revered than good music directors. What a pity! Wonder how such crass music becomes a hit?? Maybe purists are a minority and no more appreciated. I rest my case.

just heard yuvaraj songs..they are all bad.
intro song-lame copy of beethovan's 5th..sounded like poor imagination.. his kwaja from hrithik's film was trying to get into bach's shoes..in which even ilayaraja failed miserably in his "nothing but wind"..by the way..AR wake up and come out this 'sounds' mania..it may sound fresh but they are all shallow.

Rahman's music is not repetetive
by Pallab Banerjee on Oct 21, 2008 02:36 AM  | Hide replies

His music may not be repetetive but the songs do not linger in your mind for long it just fades away after some time. Except for some songs of Bombay and Roja, I do not think of any other song composed by Rahman which still haunts you, unlike RD's where every songs appears to be fresh in your mind.

He is the best MD India could have..We can name each and every album of his..whether it is Taal,Swades,RDB,Lagaan
Earth,water,JA or Yuvvraaj..RD was good
at his times but we can not remember his all compostitions..Rahman even has explored western classical much..no other MD has done this before..even Gulzar,Lataji have revered him like anything always

I think you have this Bengali kinship which is understandable. But frankly RD was lucky that he did not have to work side by side with ARR in which case he would have no job. ARR's mayya was an original. RD's mehbooba was invidious daylight robbery.

Agree with you v. much Pallab. There is no repetition factor (I can't bear to listen to his songs even once but then that's a different thing altogether) & they don't have a life of more than 2 months! Songs of Ilayaraja, RD, Raveendran (Malayalam) are so mesmerising that they can be listened to for years without getting bored. But that's not the story with this chap.

by Samir on Oct 21, 2008 01:23 AM

A.R.Rehman is the most busy person in india. Guys, I am not kidding. This is 100% truth. one of my friend works in south indian films. To get A.R.Rehman sign for any music in any movie, you have to wait atleast 1 yr.

its not easy to get his dates. He has tight schedules from all the south indian films and hindi movies.
