Yuvvraaj music is an absolute masterpiece. A complete soubdtrack with a vareity og genres ranging from Symphony orchestration to Disco to hindustani classical.
Sahir, Kaifi Azmi, Shailendra ( Guide is still numero uno of Hindi flim music), and the great lyricists like S.H Bihari, which OPNayyar had. Rehman's music is excellent, but lyrics is wanting. For example " Ramya Vasta Vayya" of yesteryears the lyrics is tremendous. If Rehman gets lyricists like the ones now, his music will be like having dosa without Urid Dhal. It will be loose, there will be no Pakad on ears. Bring back the lyricists of Lucknow. If ones hears Kishore sings the first lines of the song " Khwab ho Thum ya koyi Haqeeqat" ( the music starts later) without music in Teen Deviyan , you just goosebumps. Such is the impact of good words.

Well said. However, it shouldn't be misinterpreted that Rahman's music cannot support good lyrics. In fact, there is no worthwhile lyricist who can support this composer. As a matter of fact films like Roja and Bombay had good lyrics and Rahman gave us excellent music.
Just his composing of `Vande Mataram' and `Palanhara' are a couple of good examples.
i dont think i have seen any body with such immense sense of music in bollywood he is the best amongst heaps in bollywood, you rock mr ar rehman you rock carry on pls

hey venkatesh, i have been trying to collect Illayraja's CD. Can you please suggest some shops in Bangaluru / Chennai?
Yuuvraaj Music is excellent. A.R.Rahman is master in music. He had given very good musics from films like bombay,dilse,sathiya,etc.. He is one of the greatest music director in India. He is good not only in Hindi but also in tamil and telugu. His latest music in Yuuvraaj is marvellous.

He's not done more than 3 direct movies in Telugu (Super Police, Gangster, Nani). Infact, he rejected donning music to Nagarjuna's son's debut movie. Rahman feels Telugu music is brand low (simple repetitive beats of jaj-jha-naka)) and college style (I love you, you love me....I love you again, you love me again...once more...again & again and forever-kind) which he rarely makes these days. As an ARR-fan apart from Illayaraja from South Andhra, I had to, all these years, looked elsewhere for ARR music. :( I hate the current Telugu music which is a hackneyed assortment of Dappu and Dhol. There are few exceptions in Keeravani, Devi and a few select others, but none better.

absolutely right, telugu movies have the worst music ever. none of the songs are worth giving an ear to n leave alone having a shelf life. telugu music is pathetic.

Its not as worst as you say. infact nobody tries to do a bad work. It only depends on the director his vision and the kind of music he imagines his audience should listen. in those cases AR just rejects if his ideas go in traverse with the directors. And in the current situation only AR can dare to do that bcs he is established and hence he can reject Karan Johar, Yash & Sanjay leela...
