I do not know that why some movies are so praised though they are boring and ridiculous such as devdas and black. I saw aamir and found it heavy and boring .but all critics are going gung ho.are the critics paid or what to create a hype and hoopla and image?

It was all crap.. But few people(like you) like to b known as the people who have a test for gud movies.. n in the process with u confused mind.. u just tend to follow and praise which some other fools(like u) r doing..

Risi, you have a dirty and stinky mind.your kind of people are hypocrites.you people are only praising movie for fashion.admit it.also see and read message of rajeev kumar jha.
Why cant the hundreds of millions of bearded muslims can be role model or the hero , why does a secular so called muslim has to be clean shaven, why does this secular so called muslim has to be dating girl from another community, why this secular muslim in other movies, is shown gambling, dating, drinking just like the other normal even though it is not forbidden in Islam. The only last good portrayal of a muslim was the AK Hangal of Sholay. A bearded, pious, religious man . I wish these filmakers can look around them and see there are hundredes of bearded muslims who are patriotic, hardworking, educated and honorable.

None of my Muslim friends are bearded and I don't doubt their secularism. But i do doubt yours. Because you are twisted up there by giving this weird logic.
RE:why
by suresh G on Jul 01, 2008 10:04 PM
Dear Zia, Don't think that only muslims are bearded, even hindu Saints are having their beards, and in the movies never any saint/ any bearded hindu was the hero (except religious movies). What I want to inform is Movies are entirely fiction or it may not depict any true society. As far as Indian Movies are concerned the heroes as superhumans & allrounders. If you go through MAIN HOON NA.. the Hindu terrorist was bearded too... Hence Bearded male character in indian cinema fits only for Villian characters irrespective of their caste.
RE:why
by Vikram on Jul 01, 2008 10:13 PM
a bearded muslim always arouses suspicion. Shave off your beard and be a normal person. You are not living in Arabian desert to follow their local culture in India.
RE:why
by Risi I on Jul 01, 2008 10:18 PM
What twisted argument you have in bird brain head. By your logic bearded person is abnormal. Do you mean to say a "Sikh" is also abnormal. Don't lose the relevance of the topic.
How could Aamir have met a "normal muslim" when everything he went through was planned well in advance!!! Secondly the places he was sent to was done purposely to show aamir in what dire circumstances those muslims were surviving...
It was the motive of the fat villain to brain-wash aamir by showing him all these things. What he wanted was a qualified person to join his ranks so that their motives could be enforced in a more sophisticated manner. Such educated personnel in his ranks would also mean easy arranging of funds, contacts etc. That is why the fat villain gets so upset when Aamir refuses to budge on his brainwashing tactics toward the end of the movie...
What you need to realize is that the story spans only four hours. Imagine that there would be absolutely no space for such thinking in that less amount of time when such an incident has happened with you. If after watchin the movie, it took you 1full day for all of this nitpicking, then just imagine the character - Aamir - how could he have thought of calling other people or lookin out for "normal muslims". And finally the film portrays a hero not a stereotype. When you see highly qualified people involved in Madrid/Scotland/WTC blasts...this is just the sort of movie that would perhaps awaken perhaps a very meagre section but that it would without a doubt...
So come on man stop bein so nitpicky and cynical. If anything go watch it again with a fresh perpective and you will realize what a wonderful film it i

i am totally in favor of your argument MITHUN...what you said is correct...the guy was constantly under the vigil of the goon and was surrounded by goon's people... if you have made 10-30 hours air journey from an outside country back to india then you will know how tired you can be...not only tired physically but emotionally drenched with thoughts of meeting your family back at home after a long time....once you realize that you are caught up with something that is unavoidable ..you just want to get done with it and get back home with your family.... don't forget that the goon had his family...if Amir tried to escape or something...that would directly mean losing his family... well, it took him 1 and half minute to understand the reality and took the best decision he could in that less than 1 and half minutes time he had in the end

I agree with Mithun. Why do we rip apart every movie. This is a deeply upsetting movie which talks about the burning question in society today. brilliantly made. Atleast better than hypocritic nonsensical bolly mishmash

Mithun good point but you should have replied to Zia Syed instead of creating a new forum

Why a movie has to be inspiring? Why a movie has to be rona dhona or candy floss? Why can't a movie be a realistic social commentry? Dude you just don't have class to appreciate or understand Cinema. Sorry you don't watch Rajni. Now go and watch Sunil Shetty. Then Tushar Kapoor. Well I don't recall other marvels as I am not a regular watcher of Bollywood brilliance.
I don't know what exactly was the intention of the filmmaker? If Aamir is the hero then rest of the muslim or should we say whole of the muslim community is the villain. As no one speaks politely in the film. All characters are having -ve shades and all are muslims. So does this mean whole muslim community in Mumbai or India is full of -ve feelings and only couple of families and people like Amir? So this definitely is not a pro Muslim movie. From telephone booth to hotel to shopkeeper everyone is part of the conspiracy as if being part of terrorist network is their full time job. People who don't have proper toilets have all the time in this world to hatch terror plots. There is no convincing reason why the guy on the phone feel in particular way and no counter arguments offered by Amir. Being a muslim and marrying a non muslim is not some proof of secular or being progressive muslim. Such movies are giving a wrong signal and making muslims feel alienated. Please watch Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro. The mind blowing movie by Saeed Akhtar Mirza won national award in 1989. Performance of Pavan Malhotra is too good. It was a realistic movie and I am referring to it as it too was shot in Dongri / Bhendi Bazaar Area and is still relevant. A true masterpiece coming from a true intellectual not some pseudo intellectual who want to capitalize on Hindu - Muslim divide and borrow ideas from B grade Hollywood thrillers. Only thing honest in Amir is Rajeev Khandelwal.

RE:Pseudo Intellectual
by rajesh thakur on Jul 01, 2008 11:01 PM
The message is quite clear. Aamir is a guy who is different from other muslim as he is educated and dates a hindu galand doesent cover her in a burkha like muslims do. Also it shows that Muslims dont mind if somone plants a bomb because amjority of those killed would be hindus. Also one should know that common muslim keeps quite but within there is a desire to kill hindus and rule this land of ours.

As per the story there canot be a Hindu Villain, As it's shown as a group wants a rich foriegn returned person to be involved in so called Jehad. There cannot be a Hindu Character. Just understand the Movie first. If you forget the negatives of a Villan and only want to take the posstive of a Hero than it will look like a Good Movie

I think its ripped of from a english movie starring johnny Depp, where Depp is given the task of assassinating a high profile politician to save his daughter.
Saisuresh wrote a nice piece....however, dating a non Muslim is not the ultimate apostasy, indeed it is encouraged to bring in non Muslims into the fold. Being able to convert in to Islam earns a Muslim place in heaven. The other thing is Bollywood Muslim characters are always the praying type pious Muslim...never the non practising. Bollywood in an effort to be morally superior portrays Muslims as extremely strict, practising and even fanatical in a funny kind of nice way. The other type of Bollywood movies are the ones that come from the Bhatts - victimized helpless Muslims out on a rvenge against Hindu oppression...now that is BS...never in history did Hindus dominate Muslims in India..its always been Hindus who had to run away from what now is Pakistan and Bangladesh.
