Rubbish
by Barack Obama on Jul 02, 2008 05:45 AM  | Hide replies

Friends…………this film is just like any other propaganda from our beloved SECULAR fraternity

Seculars and jihadis are pleading that Islam is not the culprit………..and films are one media they are using to plead

But the verdict is…………Well! we all know

NO justification for terror
by Hamzah on Jul 02, 2008 02:54 AM  | Hide replies

This is most unrealistic movie. Muslims are not the only one living in Ghettos. Dharavi and other slums in Bombay are filled with people from all religion. Should they also start bombing our cities? India is poor country. And muslims can't blame their backwardness and poverty only on the governemnt or majority community for justifying acts of terror. Such movies serve no purpose. Just filming in real location instead of studio doesn't make great movies.
Watch Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro if you really want to know how a realistic movie dealing with the issues faced by minorities should be made.
It is quite unrealistic for a stupid guy on phone to know about each and every act done by Amir. Why he has to choose Amir an NRI for this act? Are there no progressive muslims living in India any more?
WHat is the percentage of hindus born in Dharavi slum end up becoming educated and do well for themselves? Why is it that when muslims living in Dongri are uneducated and backward becomes an issue? Whoever doesn't try won't progress regardless of caste and religion.
Terrorism is not the solution and not a tool to force governmet to implement pro-muslim policies.
The film gives an impression as if majority of minority community is in to terrorism and supports it whole heartedly.
It could have been better.

Morever if someone is really intrested in the so called dialogue between muslim fanatics and muslim rationalist then they need to show a devout muslim who is also educcated and rational and part of mainstream and is against violence and terrorism.
A person with just a muslim name and nothing to do with religion ideally doesn't represent MUSLIM or ISLAM so his views and actions can not be taken as views and actions of an average muslim.
Ideally speaking religion is meant to influence vely and doing good. If someone is good without being religious then we can't attribute his good qualities to his religion.

i agree to u hamza, this film is just not unrealistic it is also a waste of time....what kind of story line is there...sum stranger giving calls & thus developes a plot from nowhere...then there is mumbai darshan whic we do everyday while living, sleeping, eating & defacating....but in aamir this daily routine is spiced up with unreal happenings...like a phone call to karachi & sum bhai delivering a red suitcase....& a mock fight......& only thing noble in this tiresum film is the end when hero decides to be a martyr...what a negative approach to life & film making...yeah i will give full marks to the camera work which was at par with black friday

Great film !!
by Guest on Jul 02, 2008 12:55 AM  | Hide replies

I think the film is awesome. At last there is some kind of conversation going on between the fanatical voices and the moderate ones. I wish there had been more of it though. The climax was stunning - the predicatable news media which has already labelled Aamir as a terrorist. Such is the world we live in today. Our world views are shaped by what we read in the media and the media is all too eager to lap up what is dished out by the official machinery. If the intent of cinema is to make people aware of alternate realities and perceptions , I feel Aamir has done a great job , albeit in a small way.

There is no conversation going on between any fanatical voices and moderate ones...infact there are no two such class...making such clasifications is like me explaining you where your nose, ear, eyes etc are and for what purpose you can use your body parts..and how are the relations going on between you and your dear ones...and what is running in your mind....so muslim community and their relgion has become like a big deing animal so any vulture or dog can come and drag it..tear it off...eat it or spat on it...when this animals moves a little ( like useless stupid demonstrations by muslims in response to insult to their religion etc )...then these vultures will run few paces away with qauking....and then again will slowly come back....wait for some time to sharpen their beaks ( freedom of speech ) and their nails ( matter of national security...nation first...India first relgion later etc )..then as this animal will become more and more weak ...the vultures will come again...they are patient and consistent....so guys..we will see more movies like AAMIR..and TV SERIALS TOO....in which muslims will be first tested for given situation by NON MUSLIMS, then given a opinion verdict about them by NON MUSLIMS, then few justified and remaining proved guilty will be executed...and jack*ass here will start discussing about it with their birdbrain knowledge.

Aamir- what does the film leave the viewer with ?
by Surekha Tenneti on Jul 02, 2008 12:50 AM

The message, Mr Saisuresh Sivaswamy, that one will walk away with after seeing the very moving, disturbing and realistic film, Aamir, is that the minority population in India is still steeped in poverty, ignorance and dirt. That they need help, and badly. Otherwise men like the fat 'boss' will keep polluting the average minority guy who'll do anything in the name of religion.
One also leaves the film realising that sensible, fine men like Aamir are also increasing everyday.

Aamir

What ever reactions you guys put up in favor or against Aamir, the fact of the matter is that Aamir is a truely different film. Offcourse the movie tends to get on your nerves by giving you a endless tour of Mumbai filth and low life, but still the movie is diffenet and is good.

A muslim need not be a shaven or bearded to be a secular and good human being. A shaven Muslim can be bad and a bearded muslim could be good or visa versa.

The fact of the matter is that their are still millions of muslims who are offcourse good nationals and good human beings and care for their Motherland that is India. The humble writer is among one of them.

Its live and let live policy that should be practised. No religion preaches animosity.

Its simple guys.

by MKM GEN on Jul 01, 2008 11:36 PM  | Hide replies

Are only Muslims suffering bec of the rising tide of Islmaic terrorism? How about the hunders who lost their lives in bombings in 1993 and 2007? How about the Kashmiri Pandits who've been driven out of their homes?

Overruled...
Peole who misunterstood religion and misinterpreted it for their personal gains have cause all problems...It is in nature of Human beings...we want to force the things we like or do on others...the reason could be any of two..either we feel insecure if others don't do it and we may have to abandon it to follow the trend...or as a matter of ego and superiority that whatever we follow is best and all should follow it or at least accept it better than their own belief...and here problem starts.
But good news is...now a days peoople are realizing it and keeping their faith and religion to their home and taking their career seriously...but what about those who don't have any career? they cause the problem...Lets educate everyone...give them constructive teaching...get best out of them...make them a responsible civilzed citieen...and lets accept each other with whatever faith we follow...lets learn to co-exist and develop.

Exactly.. but the problem is there are few people who dont want to get rid of these things because ther are insecure abt their status n identity.. Relion tells us the best ways n practices which one should adhere to for leading a good n proper life.. But unfortunately there are people whn have misinterpreted the meaning.. Many are being misleaded by few who want to take advantage of the whole scene coz reliogion is really a sensitive issue.. In a nutshell.. I feel, a religion can't be more than the a human life.. But very few accept this..

i am not a religious person myself...
but i have seen the movie and was able to appreciate it for couple of things...if u sincerely wants to know the underlying message of the movie...here it is...
i think that highlight of the movie is the last conversation between the voice on phone and Amir..where voice asks Amir what he has done for the Kaum and Amir replies saying, "if every single person in the Kaum stands up for themselves then Kaum will flourish automatically....also he says that I am a self-made man....my success is the result of my hard work and brave efforts..."
the essence of this conversation is that don't blame it on Kaum or nation or anybody else for your pity life....learn to stand up for yourself...study, work hard and lead a life of a successful and happy person anywhere in the world...
also when the voice on phone ridicules him about being a man who takes his own decisions...Amir proves him wrong by taking a final decision against the voice even though it meant sacrificing his own life...
i hope i made some sense...i am not a good narrator...you have to watch the movie with an open mind to understand the "message" of the film
