Bollywoods shallowness was at display when Amitabh got Best Actor award. It became more hilatious when Saif Ali Khan got National Best Actor award.
If a person of the calibre of Uttam Kumar can not get recognition, what about far away greats like Thilakans?
It is Punjabi lobby in bollywood that calls shots. Before Uttam Kumars stage presence, the likes of Dev Anand, Sunil Dutt, Dharmendra pale. But still these are the stars but not Uttam Kumar!

The very term "Bollywood" sounds stupid. The Hindi film industry has just copied the term Hollywood and made it Bollywood. In the first instance the industry should give a name to the industry that is purely "Indian". And not keep funny names like "Bollywood" Change that term first!!!

Thilakan should have won the National Award.. Amitabh bought it.. his performance in Agneepath was no match for THilakans .. but stupid Bollywood fans will never understand..

Yes, you are right, Amitabh was just OK in Agneepath. And I was not knowing these so called Malayalam Superstars are so cheap, poor Thilakan.

I am not someone from Kerala,nor do I speak Malayalam. But I do realise the tragedy of non-hindi spoken regions of India. India has been dominated by hindi speaking people as they are more in numbers. These are the people who never have learnt to respect other INDIAN LANGUAGES OR CULTURES and will term them as REGIONAL. India could have been a far better country had it not politically dominated by the Hindi belt.Due to them LOTS OF INDIAN TALENTS ARE NOT RECOGNIZED and are nipped in the bud.

The malayalam superstars are not cheap, its the producers and certain members of the association of malayalam cinema tht placed some bad rumors against him. Thilakan said so himself, he has no disrespect for the actors i.e lal, mammootty,prithvi etc.. Its mainly the producers who are doin something against him.

I was wondering why Thilakan sir was not appearing on the screen since a long time. Now I got the answer. Whatever may happen, I really appreciate his acting talents. He is one of the best actors in fact the Indian industry would have ever seen. I am sure nothing can stop an actor like Thilakan to once again prove the movie lovers, what he is really made of. Still we have directors i.e adoor gopalakrishnan,blessy,shyamprassad, lal jose, santhyan anthikad, sreeni etc.. There are sure emergin writers followin bollywood storytelling pattern, but still there are good writers tht outweigh them in malayalam cinema. Even tamil industry is not getting good writers, except for a few. Kamal hassan himself said tamil cinema is stagnating, except for a few.
Rightly said 'The Malayalam superstars are highly insecure.' I see this in this article too. Rajani or Kamal never compliant like that. Because award is nothing for real super star.

They ar not insecure even from newcomers. Still lal and mammooty never complain, why only target those too. Lal in 2007 had only 1 hit and others are flops, did u ever see him complain. No he is not even dissapointed by paradeshi, if he is insecure as to deliver hits after hits, he wouldn't have done paradeshi. He said those movies are important and the role he did was satisfyin for himself.

You can't compare one great with another great. When you said greatest, it shows you are with small heart. Grow up and appreciate whatever is the best.
Ambitabh is just another superstar who has been overhyped by the media, people who are mad behind him.. .. Just another case of overshadowing Thilakan ..

donno abt thilakan, but yes, bachhan though good, has been overhyped by the media.
If you ask me, I'd say Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri are better actors.
