Isn't India about Diversity??
by on Jan 25, 2008 10:47 PM

So many diverse people with so many languages and so many movies each year - more than Hollywood. We should be proud to be Indians and stop in-fighting.

BTW: Network is what I call the most important. Obviously AB has a better network than Thilakan. Being an actor in the most spoken language Hindi AB obviously has better network.

I have not seen both the movies. May be both of them deserve awards. But it is network that matters when the time comes. Who would you hire when you have the need - people who you know or some ajnabi.

The truth!

Big B is just a commercial actor like Shah Ruck Khan. Big B has good screen presence, great voice and he is a good actor. However, Thilakan is a talented actor and who can do any roles. There are just a few actors like him and to name some of them are: Kamal Hassan, Nasirudeen shah, Om Puri and so on. These actors are classy and have their own special identity in the film industry. Big B is just a superstar like Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi. They are all liked by the people very much. However, a great actor is one who is very versatile and does any role. Thilakan is one such actor! One should watch the movie "Perumthachan" to appreciate Thilakan's talent!!!

Crap !...the only reply by 'Indian' cinema for hollywood's godfather was 'Nayagan' directed by Maniratnam with Kamalahassan in lead.

The only reason it failed to win an oscar was it was based on a movie which already won an oscar.

It has also been rated as one of the best in the world (Times top 100)

Actors like Thilakan,Om puri,Naseeruddin Shah,Kamal Haasan , Robert De Niro ,Dustin Hoffman represent pure talent.Only thing is that they do not have the glamour and beauty.
Amitabh Bachan is a great actor but not as great as compared to the talent of the above mentioned actors.I fully support Thilakan on the basis of pure raw talent.People have not seen Malayalam movies...they are based on good stories and not some same old typical Bolloywood standard or copied stories.

Thilakan is a great actor. So are Mohanlal and Mammooty.
One that it doesn't look good of an actor who is blaming everybody from Mohanlal, Mammooty to Big B. Whinning is not something that we look for in a great person. Do we??
Also leave the Indian awards..Even if we go by the International accolades, we know who is the real bible in acting. So no point comparing and satisfying regional biases over here.
Let's be just pure movie buffs and praise the performers for what they are rather than what region they belong to.
cheers.

you are right. Thilakan deserved that national award and he is right that apparently Big B was "given" that award.

But now Thilakan is going over the top, accusing everybody and everything for less number of roles he has, even caste lobbies, that is hilarious. Such a pitfall for a superb actor.

There is nothing wrong if he says so. Afterall he is not wrongly complaining. And its normal to speak like this in public if a great actor is sidelined simply for political reasons. Do you really think that he is not getting any roles because his acting is not good?? what he says has truth in it. And being sidelined so badly is more than enough reason for him to speak out.

International accolades are nothing to go by boss. Hindi industry is big because you have more people who can watch the movies and thus they can have a bigger budget. And just because of it's bigger budgets and larger pool of audience(ppl who know hindi - even though I am from South I do watch a lot of Hindi movies) Hindi cinema and heroes are getting a better deal to be fair.

Also you know what Hindi stars stand for now. Only breask ups and hook-ups. Apart from that if there is a competitor to your dear ones just get away from them (Example: AB, Big-B and Sharukh).

If you want to just enjoy good cinema come down south and enjoy real good cinema. It's really much better fair than Hindi a third of the films are shamelessly lifted. Real pathetic show.

Now this is height of idiocity: Example of ongoing anti-amitabh propaganda
by Ravi Roy on Jan 25, 2008 09:41 PM  | Hide replies

Can the writer of this article tell us who paid him money to write all these nonesense: SRK or Some cognress sonia sycophant?

Just note that in India only two actors have opened their actign acount with firs fim first national award: Mithun Chakraborty and Amitabh Bachchan !
Amitabh is Everest of acting ... those who are doign here overtime to defame him anyway be it through false land scam cases, such controversies, wrong IT aids or even national awards ..they must know that those who spit on Sky, they actually spit on their own face.
Amitabh is beyond awards, just ike Lata..so please stop writing these idiocities and stop being part of ongoing Anti-amitabh propaganda started by his rivals and congress!
We all know well what is Amitabh!

You may very well know what Amitabh is and how good he is. Agreed. But you surely dont know what Thilakan is. In case you are thinking he is just another actor from the south, then you have understood wrong. See some of Thilakan's films like Perunthachan.. Seriously, he will teach you the art of acting.

yeah right - like Lata - the old woman with that cackle like voice? come one - she should have stopped singing 2 decades ago - just because she did not does not make her a good singer now - she was good, but way way past her prime.

can u for my benefit, list out one good movie in which AB has really acted well - I think the way he moderates his voice and stuff is sick at the very best. he is a showman - but actor he is not.
E.g: Aamir Khan is a great actor - but not SRK. just because SRK gets all the attention does not mean he is a great actor.

Accepted that Amitabh is a Good Actor, really good. But in case you have not seen the acting of Thilakan, please do check it out. He is a class, seriously.

Many unfortunate things have happend
