Making film is not wrong but making Fraud and playing with sentiment acannot be tolarated. Why dont you name a movie "ABC" and make it if it doesnot conform to history. May be it is ok for you to make movie but donot take advantage and distort fact...........

the exitence of Jodha

Hi all, Akbar married to:
Ruqayya Sultan Begum
Salimah Sultan Begum
Mariam-uz-Zamani or Jodha Bai
Sakinah Banu Begum.

Jodha was born on october 1, 1542 as the daughter of Raja Bharmal of Amber and aunt of Man Singh I of Amber, whom later on became one of the nine jewels (Navaratnas) in the court of
Akbar. In 1562, she married Akbar the Great. She was 22 days elder than Akbar. She was Akbar's third wife and one of the three chief queens of Emperor Akbar. His first queen was the childless, Ruqaiyya Begum and his second wife was Salima Sultan, widow of Bairam Khan, Akbar's most trusted general.

Jodhabai was allowed to practice Hinduism freely. She is said to have been politically involved in the court until Nur Jahan became empress

All other details are mentioned in a b c Abul Fazl - Akbarnama Volume II and The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition 2006

I have high regards for Mr. Gowarikar as a director. I beleive that he must have studied the history before he ventured into making the film. So he has a justification and we have not heard from him as yet. I am sure that he will come out with his defence at the appropriate time. Only after that we can enter into a serious debate on this subject in an objective manner. There could be two options - right or wrong. If he is right, he demands kudos from us and if he is wrong, he will surely be criticised. But agitations against screening of the film tantamounts to fanaticism and must not be tolerated. Mr. Gowarikar has already proved his mettle as a director; but that does not mean that he cannot commit a mistake. We should at least give him credit to dare to make a diffcult film like this and that too at such a high cost.
Historical films are always difficult. History has been distorted (though unintentionally) in many Hollywood films. I remeber that somebody had commented after screening of the movie, "Helen of Troy" that Holywood is distorting history. It was criticised by many but nobody attempted to stop screening of the film. In fact our first preference should be towards ensuring screening of the film as that is a greater menace. Civilised society must not be intolerant like the Jehadis or Talibans (Muslim or Hindu).

If authorities don't do their work, then people have to step in. It is responsibility of the censor board to make sure that if the movie claims to be historical, it is accurate. Else just ask the directors to change the names (put a big disclaimer in the beginning stating it is fiction) and let it go.

Akbar did marry a rajput princess and she was related to Raja Man Singh of Jaipur. This is certain. What was her name is the controvercy... Does it matter, enjoy the movie if you have no other economic considerations.
If you have good luck.

Pran ( Not the one in older Films)

Thanks nisha for this Important information.
Hi all please go through the detials given in aabove mentioned encyclopedia and you would understand.
Stop this nonsense and wait until the film releases, unnecessary controversy would spoil this great hardwork done by this Man who has dared to make a Biopic on such a difficult subject.

Hat's off to Ashutoshji.

Well, another controversy before release of a movie! It will surely get much hype! Carry on media! Anyway, then incest was very much in vogue!

INside History of these Mughals
by Sama Saymin on Feb 07, 2008 10:33 AM

Haven't u hear about the famous stories named "The Arabian Nights"-from that we all know about Aladin's cherag & so many short stories comes. So the first starting of that Arabian nights-introduction part/has been mentioned that "The emperor every night get married one beautiful girl for only ONE NIGHT STAND & the next morning she has had to be killed by The King or his jallad's. In that way lastly one queen was very sharp/intelligent, she had started to telling a story to the king at her suhaag raat continuously without finishing every night, end to the INTERVAL like %u201Cpicture abhi baqi hei mere dost%u201D & the king keenly waiting for the next night to listen
/in this way The Arabian Nights has 100 short stories linked each other-comes one by one/at the end the king couldn't killed that queen. The queen became a proud mother of a prince!!! Akbar had the same old story(without any Arabian nights story but may be more-who knows?)

Some times that womens never been used 2nd time/few of them virgin till death but no body had any rights to touch them except the all Emperors. in this reason inside of these HEREMS only allowed the KHOJA's(who have to operated bound to impotent/ shown a few of them in a short character in the movie Mughal e Azam/they dressed up like ladies of)& Ladies/No Gents were allowed in side of Herem & in the ANTAR MAHAL!
