FACTS......ABOUT..........JODHA BAI
by JAMES NAIK on Feb 06, 2008 08:06 PM  | Hide replies

Jodhabai (b. october 1, 1542) is one of the three main wives of Akbar and the mother of Jahangir.

She was born on october 1, 1542 as the daughter of Raja Bharmal of Amber and aunt of Man Singh I of Amber, whom later on became one of the nine jewels (Navaratnas) in the court of Akbar. In 1562, she married Akbar the Great. She was 22 days elder than Akbar. She was Akbar's third wife and one of the three chief queens of Emperor Akbar. His first queen was the childless, Ruqaiyya Begum and his second wife was Salima Sultan, widow of Bairam Khan, Akbar's most trusted general.

Jodhabai was allowed to practice Hinduism freely. She is said to have been politically involved in the court until Nur Jahan became empress. According to Thomas Roe, she was involved in active sea trade and owned a ship named Ramiti which carried pilgrims to Mecca.

In 1586, Jodhabai arranged a marriage of her son, Prince Salim (later Jahangir), to Man Singh's sister Princess Manmati, who was the mother of Prince Khusro. Jodhabai died in 1611. As per her last wishes a vav or step well was constructed by Jahangir.

Another Mughal royal named Jagat Gosain aka Jodhi Bibi was the daughter of Udai Singh of Jodhpur, and a wife of Jahangir. She was the mother of Prince Khurram (later Shah Jahan). This is a matter of political debate in Rajasthan, with various Rajput organisations taking the field against the former royal families of Jaipur and Kishangarh about exactly which Rajput princess married which Mug

Varghese,

At last an articulate depiction of the current scene in India and stupidity of the Hindus. Your quote "Hindu being totally selfish as selfish as to hurt himself " should actually be "Hindu being totally stupid, as stupid as to hurt himself"

Jodha or Yoddha

It is shame on we Indian that we have forgotten our Indian and vedic culture who had influenced the entire world. The Indian history,is how old, tell me, who has written this history, what is its base. The English wrote the history as per their convenience and tried to glorify the islam so that the Indian could not say India is hindustan. If any body says Taj Mahal was built by Shahajahan, than I would advice him to go through some articles published in the past who justifies why it was not built by moghuls. Regarding Jodha Bai, The English again plotted a new story to justify the Fort captured by Akbar was built by himself and it had hindu worship place inside for Jodhabai, his hindu wife. In an old palace(Akbar's) in Lahore, still there are some painting of Shree Krishna in a altar.(i have seen in a programme in PTV). As per my knowledge JodhaBai is a myth, and Jodha(yoddha)does not seem to be feminine. Jodhabai named after jodhpur, not that Jodhpur is after Jodhabai. One more thing I want to mention here that since 10th century till todate you could witness thousand of Hindu monuments spreading throughout India starting from Rameshwaram, puri, somnath, ujjain, khajuraho, rajasthan, banaras. Have you seen any ancient Hindu monuments in around Delhi. Why, the Delhi was Indraprastha, it was capital of Prithiraj Chauhan also.No Buddhist monuments, no Jaina Monuments. Hindu has gone far to Cambodia, java, sumatra,Kabul Kandahar. But they did not build even a temple, they did not ha

Yes, Manoj you are absolutely right hindu's built Taj Mahal which almost resemble a mosque with four pillars. And hindu's cut the hands of thousand worker after they built it. Sometimes you got to give credit wheres it due. No one has forgotten the vedas, people still peform yogas and practice ayurved all inspired by the vedas.
