A sensitive movie that didn't dwell for hours on only the ART of music, treating it as a part of life that it is for some people. It could have degenerated into a veritable worship of music and got patronizing for those who cannot appreciate it, but thanks to the great acting , it didn't. Farhan's voice is not for classical hindustani, its GREAT for the kind of songs used here. The guy is just like his Dad, a mine of talent. Fell in love with him. A must watch film for those who HATE the clutter of Bombay films...THIS is a refreshing change.
Just saw the movie n its amazing .. I guess it will take everyone down memory lane.....the joys and heartaches...friendship, dreams and aspirations...and everything else that goes into growing up!!! Loved it!!!
WOW! The one person who really shone for me in this film, is Arjun Rampal... Dudes, this guy can really act!!! Of course, Farhan Akhtar was impressive as the broody hero. Overall, such a gr8 movie - deals with real-life issues (such as following your dreams, and compromising to please society etc) in a very nice way. Not preachy, or over sentimental... ROCK ON!
First things First! Hats off to the whole Team of Rock On!!. How one wishes more such flicks are made in our country. Truly World Class!!! Each and every actor is brilliant to say the least. Fantastic job, guys. A special mention for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy without whose music Rock On!! wouldn't have been the marvel it is. I sincerely hope they win all awards this year for Best Music. They deserve it!! Abhishek Kapoor, your direction is absolute class. As for Farhan Akhtar, well, what can I say? I was already a HUGE fan of Farhan, the director, but now I am BIGGER fan of him as an actor/singer. Well done, Farhan. Bravo!! A few flaws in the film can definitely be ignored...:) I would like to thank the entire team of Rock On!! for giving us this gem of a movie.
Farhan Akhtar is a good director and also a good actor. But SINGING! Hello! He sounds as if he's got a sore throat. Mr. Akhtar CAN'T sing. He just doesn't have the voice. His singing abilities are no better than Atif Aslam (who brays) and Himesh Reshammiya (who whines in a nasal tone). These people are talented , but they have no business taking their audience for granted and subjecting them to such torture in the name of art. Singing is a talent and not everyone is talented in everything. The art of singing has to be polished through years of dedicated riyaaz. And that riyaaz is also for "wannabe singers" who have a "voice." Nowadays everyone is a self-proclaimed singer and it's "fashionable" to sing, all seem to have GOD's Gift. SAD really sad!

Ooops! U said it! Nope dear, Farhan`s a new singer.. and done a great job in Rock On! We can give him 8/10, and for actiong i can give 9.5/10. A superb movie, Mr Akhtar is an all rounder.. Cool Movie 4/5 not bad!

Whats wrong with you Felicity? Its not necessary that every singer shud go thru years of dedicated "riyaaz". Agreed, Farhan is not suited for all kinds of music. But for Rock On!!, he is spot on!!. His voice is perfect for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's terrific score. And Atif's singing in "Woh Lamhe" (Zeher), "Tere Bin" (Bas Ek Pal), "O Jaane Jaa"(Race), etc sounded like braying to you, i truly pity you. I'd like to ask you what's your take on Bryan Adams, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Axl Rose (Guns n Roses). Do you think they bray as well???? Whatever you say just doesn't make any sense!

I dsiagree with you FC.This a rock band not a solo performance.You couldnt have asked for a better performance than this from him.Kudos to him. I'm not into Hindi movies but have to say this one really rocked on. Honestly though flaws exist (who cares) this can inspire ppl to do good in the music industry too. Bands who are out there its time :)

You are wrong...Farhan rocks as a singer.. Yes he is different..he may not be the best.. but people have loved him as a singer..
For me the biggest highlight of this movie was Farhan's singing and on stage performance. WowWWWW!!!!!
Seemes like he is borne to sing Rock. Great job in debut. Rarely, anybody has done so well in his/her debut, besides the superb Hritik Roshan ofcourse.
I dont care whether the movie is a copy of some Korean movie or a 'seems-to-be-remake-of-jhankaar-beats'. The movie is damn good and it will set a trend in bollywood for sure.
