Asha Bhosale at Pune
by Arun B Londhe on Apr 21, 2008 01:21 PM  | Hide replies

Asha bhosale may have regaled Carnegie Hall audience. But some few months back in Pune she just annoyed her fave audience in the live show at Mukundnagar.

She came late. Sung 3-4 song in the begining then hadned the mike to Amit Kumar and disappeared. She returned only in the end to sing 2 - 3 songs. It had all the audience fuming and feel cheated coz she just sund 7-8 songs in entire 3 hour programme.

And that Amit Kumar is also stupid person. He too annoyed a lot by his KK historonics. God knows when this person will come out of his Dad's shadow and earn livehood on his own songs.

So in all i feel that these singers are always partial to the NRI audience and keep ignoring desi audience.

Plz get ur facts right. I attended the program in Pune. I agree the prog started late for reasons best known to the organizers. why blame asha for it? and let me point out that she sang almost 17 songs in all.
the list is as follows:
1)Umrao jaan - 3 songs
2)Chura liya
3)Yeh mera dil
4)Aao na gale
5)Yeh raatein yeh mausam
6)Muttakori Kawwadi hada
7)Paanch rupaiya baara aana
8)Raat baaki Aaj ki raat hona hai kya
9)Puchho na yaar kya
10)Yeh ladka haye allah
11)Aaja aaja
12)Jhumka gira re
13)Piya tu
14)Punjabi song
Mr. Amit kumar sang 7 solos whereas avdhut gupte sang the initial 3 songs. That makes total no of songs to about 25. Not bad for a prog with a delayed start.
I also agree with u that we could have got more of Asha. blame it on organizers and the POLITICAL CHIEF GUEST!!!!

ashu bhonsle Live show
by Ashok Singal on Apr 21, 2008 07:01 AM

I was actually there in this show. It was one of the most entertaining live show i had ever seen. Ashaji not only danced on some of the numbers while was singing, she also made Amit Kumar to dance along with her. Amit started the show and sand first two numbers and then introduced Ashaji and she sanged 2-3 solo songs and then both sung some numbers. Ashaji was looking stunning in her white Saree which she was initially wearing and then after some time, she went and got her clothes changed to what are showin the picture above. Overall, it was a very nice show. But some more songs could have been added.

Surekha Tenneti
Ah, Asha !
by Surekha Tenneti on Apr 20, 2008 09:38 PM  | Hide replies

For years and years Asha Bhonsle was denied her rightful place as the most versatile singing 'star' of Hindi playback singing, alongside the great Mohd.Rafi. It had always been Latha, Latha all the way- who despite her golden, velvet voice and unbelievble singing, was still a step behind her sister in versatality.
And Asha ...!!?? Did today's young admirers who're raving about her dynamic singing ever hear Asha sing, "Sitare Jhilmila Uthe.." in Hum Dono, or "Piya, Piya, Piya" from Baap re Baap, or "Chain se Mujh ko Kabhi" ? Her talent has always been quite unbelievable - but, God in His sweet Heaven knows, how at 75, she continues to rock !
She is truly iconic, and belongs forever !

What song is "Sitare Jhilmila Uthe" in Hum Dono?
I have never heard that song.

If you are referring to her part in "Abhi na jao", then I should say, with due regards to the great Asha Bhosle, her part did not create any added value in the song. Even Alka Yagnik or Surekha Tenneti could have sang that part, for all I care, as long as Rafi produced the gem in his part..

Most people listen to Abhi Na jao, almost as a solo..

Get Real. Asha's rendition and the way she renders the lyrics is incredible - sitaren Jhilmila Uthe Charag Jagmaga Uthe Bas Ab Na Mujhko Tokna Na Badhke Raah Rokna Abhi Gayee Bahak To Phir Main Aaa Na Paaongi Kabhi Yehi Kahoge Tum Sada Ke Dil Abhi Bhara Nahin Jo - I am writing these words from memory - such were those melodies in the Golden times that even now you can hum them and listen to the way Asha croons - Bas ab na mujhko Tokna -
Alka Yagnik you say - come on.
Only Ashaji can. And as for Lata she sang some fast songs as well and quite well but where she excelled was in songs where the sur had to scale the highs and lows and she was par excellence. Ashaji is a legend I admire but when I listen to the many songs Lata wins just by a very small margin in my opinion.

DP..First learn to understand the spirit of any message..
No one is comparing Asha to anyone.. I think she is way above Alka and the likes.
My point was "Abhi na jao" is a classic because of Rafi and Rafi only! Go to the youtube link for the song, and you will find every single comment praising Rafi.
If you replace Rafi by any other male singer the song will cease to be remembered as a classic. If you replace Asha by any other female singer in the song, the song may deteriorate a bit, but will still rank as a classic!

ok, what about main pyar ka rahi hoon...?? asha has smothered rafi into oblivion in that song. rafisaab was the greatest singer ever but give asha credit where it is due.

I never thought so.. But again pasand apna apna..
The song where Asha dominated Rafi was "Deewana Mastana Hua Dil" (Bombai ka Babu). In none of the OP songs did I find Rafi overshadowed.

Can she compose good music? let her compose. nobody is critisising her about singing. then why she always critizising about composers.
the people who doest not know about computer and music ,talk about old system of composing.now all music dirctors have computers and other system, why they can't produce music like AR Rahman.
so it needs creativity. Rahman can do large live orchestra. but in this fast world we require to use computer. lets us use it.now computer is life.

Asha definitely has the right to complain. She has proven she is all that and moe. She was given her due for her calibre in the past. If no one can do justice to her talents in the past 15 years, it means there no worthy composers.

After those ghazals and poems by Gulzar, Izazat, one has not heard of any lovely music from her. Everyone relies on her own re-mixes.
