Hey Ramya cool down, please use you head...
Yar ladkiyon mein waqaie dimagh kam hota hai...

Mr. Vinit is not criticizing any North indian wrather he is against any who criticize any North Indian

Check out the lines he wrote:
"There are people on this forum who dont like Lata, Asha, RD burman, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, SD Burman, Khayyam and Naushad. Some of them even criticised Madhubala, nargis, Waheedaji.

Just becoz these guys are North Indians."

When Ashaji brought the house down !
by sandeep korde on Apr 18, 2008 05:17 PM

A lot of different opinions down here.
I really wonder, how many of you really attended this concert at Carnegie Hall, in person ?

Well, during the days when Ashaji was younger, there were hardly any singers of caliber, coming even close to her, forget getting compared to her. I think many of you have not listened to the some of the songs from Ashaji and O.P. Nayyar. They were too good and even today, one would swoon to their tunes.

As I've not been able to hear Ashaji sing in a live concert in the recent past. So, I do not know if her voice quivers or shakes, as some say here. But, even today, every old and new music director feels previledged to have a song composition sung by Ashaji. Have any of you listened to her audio album with Jagjeet Sing ? She's too good singing those Gazals in that.

There's a certain "Comfort Zone" between a singer and a music composer and that's why they were (Ashaji and Lataji) at the top, for a while. I don't understand therefore some of these comments like "Mumbai Mafia".

Similarly, they both had very good background and knowledge of Indian classical music. That explains the versatility of Ashaji. Many of the bloggers I find referring Ashaji on her first-name-basis. That's no way to address such elderly person and a legend now. Do you address your parents on first-name-basis at home ? If yes, then for me its wrong, for you to have forgotten your culture & values due to this new NIR-culture of Pops & Moms. (Non-Indian Resident)

A versatile singer.
by Bishwa NathSingh on Apr 18, 2008 05:04 PM  | Hide replies

Asha Bhosle is remembered far & wide for her melodious voice & versatile singer of repute. She is an eloquent dancer too.Asha Bhosle is modest of simplicity & having a very large heart. She is always in readiness to help poorest & orphans. She has to go a long way though she has established her name & fame as versatile singer of repute. Let an auditorium be built in her name with the help of all in almost all metropolitan cities to commemorate her!

No doubt, south singers are also great and excel in their languages. This does not mean that you should underrate singers in other languages and so much so a singer like Asha whose tone enthralls millions of music lovers in India and abroad. One should not be obsessed while judging the performance of others.Every flower has its own beauty and fragnance and every fruit its own taste and sweetness. One is neither less nor more than the other. You may be feeling that Asha's voice is somewhat husky, but even that has its own melody and is liked by thousands of people. That way except Sushila, other singers like Janaki,Chitra, late Leela and Jikki too had a peculiar melody typical of their own.Padmini Kolhapure's tone melody could be due to genetic factor since she, after all, shares the blood of Mangeshkar family. What is more important is acceptability by people and Asha enjoys it abundantly beyond any doubt.

if one singer is good that does not make the other singer bad...if chitra is good that does not mean that lataji or ashaji is bad or vice versa... this is not a competition...all of them can be good and everyone is entitled to their own choice...

Again... the same old nonsense : south is always better. When would u morons come out of ur shell and see that there are a lot better things around ?

I am a huge fan of Chitra, and Janaki..but that doesnt give me a right to compare and ridicule maestros at the celestial levels they are . So, dont spit out ur judgements just for the heck of it.
