Indian Idol No.3
by prabhakar d bapat on Sep 30, 2007 07:01 PM  | Hide replies

I entirely agree with the thoughts expressed by hesh Mashalkar. There is no such thing as searching for real talent. The selection based on the number of votes polled through SMS is by far the worst thing that can happen to the real talent search. Since access to the cell phones is so easy even chidren in their primary school ages are freely sending the SMS without knowing even the basics of music. It is high time the stalwards in the entertainment industry give a serious thought of encouraging the real musical talent.

Hi Prabhakar
I should rather say that you are more than hundred percent correct. The so called "real talent hunt" is nothing but new ways to the TV Channels to fill in their pockets through increased TRPs and excessive advertisements. The pathetic condition of Indion Idol 1 and Indion Idol 2 is apparently visible to the mob. Inspite of winning these so called realities shows for "talent hunt" the champions are nowhere found performing in any of the good movies. These shows are a realy waste of time.
The Judges at these shows think themselves as real "Gods" and fight with each other like stray mad dogs. Worst way to befool the TV Viewers and the contestancts as well. It should be thoroughly protested and rather banned.

Indian Idol, Saregamapa, VOI all these are Nonsense Biased Shows Only Meant for People like Himesh Reshammiya
by mahesh mashalkar on Sep 30, 2007 10:25 AM  | Hide replies

There is No Difference in These So Called Musical Shows Saregamapa Pratham Vishwa Yudh(LOL), Indian Idol, Voice of India(Hahahaha) and Ekta Kapoor Serials and SRK and Karan Johar Movies Just Fooling the Public And Making Money, and The Biggest Fools are the Teenage Girls who are Crazy after Fudgekins like SRK and Karan Johar(They Both Get out of same Bedroom in the Morning), Notice no Girl wins these Contests Coz all Teenage Girls Vote for the Boyz and Hell 70% of Votes are Sent By their Realtives Like Mother, Father, Chacha,Chachi, Mama, Mami. The Best Show According to me is The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Coz there is no SMS Public Voting in this.

I strongly disagree with you buddy. I agree that Indian idol is totally a way of minting money out of common people, but Saregamapa has developed a standard. Their singers are really very talented and up to the mark of perfection.
Most of them have already got huge breaks.
So do not compare Indian idol with Saregamapa who has nourished the best singers like sonu nigam, etc for the music industry.

Clubism in Bengal
by BR on Sep 30, 2007 08:26 AM

Bengal is famous for clubism. The Nepali clubs are hardly more disruptive than the benagli ones are. In that respect the club culture of Bengal is very much like that of England lads, due to unemployment mostly. It is actually quite common for disruptions occurring on a regular basis due to club activities and the socialist parties( quite akin to Shiv Sena and BJP disruptions).

It is nothing uncommon. The issue has been nationalised only because of a winner who is not from mainland India, and from a community not commonly known by others in the country.

Despite whatever happened, Prashant Tamang has done well to ask for restraint from his fans. And people must learn that being fans and exercising their enthusiasm and excitement should not interfere with the daily lives of other poor common people around.

As far as the creep RJ is concerned, he has to apologise nationally ' agar mard ka bachcha hai tau'.

By going through the comments in this portal, I am very pained by the very poor apraisal of the social structure of this country. Most of the participants revealed their narrowmindedness. They seemed to be cocooned within themselves(KUPAMONDUK).
SOCIAL SCIENTISTS NEED TO WORK HARD WITH PRESENT GENERATION, AND PREVENT DEGENERATION OF THIS COUNTRY.
" I " has become more important than" WE ".

Hail to the Gorkhas of India!! Hail to the North East!!
by Yam Jaisi on Sep 29, 2007 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

No one likes violence. The main reason why the people of the North East and the Himalayan regions of India are sensitive to community issues are that their other mainstream Indian communities don't treat them as Indians at all. They are looked down upon in bigger cities. There are thousands of Indian Gorkha freedom fighters who fought for India' s freedom, but Gorkhas are always treated as loyal to the British India as if there were no other Indians in the British Indian Forces. Let people go to the Indian Parliament premises and have a glimse of the statue of Maj. Durga Malla, a Gorkha Indian Freedom Fihgter in the INA, who was hanged by the British. We sing our National Anthem "Jana Gana Mana" written by Rabindranath Tagore and its music composed by Capt. Ram Singh Thakuri, a Gorkha Indian Freedom Fighter. He also composed the music of "Kamam Kadam Badhaye Ja" & numerous other songs. Thousands of Gorkhas have sacrificed their lives of Mother India during the wars with China & Pakisthan. The one big reason for this ill-treatment to the Gorkhas is that they still don't have any state in their name, which they have been demanding since many decades in their own ancestral lands of the Darjeeling District and the Dooars regions of West Bengal. It originally belongs to them. Let us be fare in our judgements. About the recent violence in Siliguri, there are many rumours, and it was not initiated by the Gorkhas. Jai Hind.

The Nepalis in the North Bengal Region has made the the Tamang issue such a fuss that it is unthinkable. There are so many issued associated with our livelhood & we should concentrate on that. There is no buisnees of Tamang Fan Club members to browbeat the local people to avange a delhi based RJ's remerks & take a communal line against perple residing in plains. These Fan club members should be tought a real lesson.

Whatever the Fan Club members were doing was a peaceful rally, not at all aimed at their Bengali brothers. They were just protesting against a bad remark to the Gorkha community by the RJ of a Delhi based FM radio. There are many rumours regarding the start of the violence, and it is difficult to believe at any one, without any proof. It was the Fan Club members who needed protection there, and were later evecuated from the site. And these Fan Club members were as much local as their Bengali counterparts, since they were from the surrounding localities, and not from the hills. I think every Indian citizen has the right to protest against abuses and injustices, through peaceful means. Jai Hind.

After seeing the film Dilse, i really thought how north east ppl weren\'t given recognition by politicians. I was very happy when the two Indian idol contestants were a part of the region. The remark by the RJ demands action but whomsoever wants to protest could have done in a peaceful way thru media....Jai Hind...Let all Indians be united...

I fully agree with you. I was borned in an Indian Airforce compund and lived there for 23 years and never realised that I am nepali and considered like a foreigner.

I used to be angry with peoples response and taking me to nepal but slowly I came to realise that to have an identity in india we have to have our state.

Even though I never felt left out or in anyway prevented from succeding but its just hurts my feeling when considered not a part of india. The country that I love the most and will give my life for it.

I am in US and its so strange that people here come from different parts of country, but still they are able to work together as a team.

Ban SMS based shows
by on Sep 29, 2007 10:40 AM  | Hide replies

Indian Idol has divided the northeast for the sake of TRPs and Monetary benefits. Sony is responsible for this. Let there be a PIL against Sony and ask them to pay for the ill feeling created. Javed Akhtar defending and saying Prashant is Indian Idol is meaningless because he has not touched the hearts of people at an all India level. He is only Sony's Indian Idol or Sony's sms idol. Just see the percentage of votes regionwise. The last thing we want is racial slurs.
