shameful as it is i think this is the way things are likely to be in the near future. We dividing and subdividing ourselves into minorities on the basis of religion and language is likely to further compound matters. We have weak spineless politicians who play the appeasement card at the drop of a hat. Its amazing but its always the majority that suffers and the minority better watch out for the backlash.
The whole idol thing was a farce with community based voting and prashant doesnt deserve to be in the first 5 let alone the "idol"

It is unfortunate the way things are going on here. India was never a country before the brits took over, had not been for them north eastern states would have belonged to china or myanmar. Indians simply don't accept fellow indians, people here look for ways to differentiate one from another, the language, caste, region, religion etc. With so much of diversity, there is hardly any unity. Even the goverment had neglected the NE regions, that is why is there a crisis there. Those people are fighting for their identity. We indians call them names, crack jokes simply because they look a little different from us, this is nonsense. Unless we respect and accept everyone, this country will fall apart. Prashant Tamang is a talented guy, who has made India proud. I am happy that a guy from remote place did the nation proud. People beware, unless we show mutual respect, this country will have no future, there will be several divided countries coming out of India.

Can't agree more. I am from Rajasthan and have seen the antipathy in people for North-easterns. Just because somebody looks different than you doesn't make him/her any less Indian. Wake up, Indians.

I can see why some people felt that it was racist. But sometimes, can't people just take jokes for the sake of humor without worrying about racism, religion, castism etc.
ALL 'SMS' TYPE CONTEST SHOULD BE BANNED IN TV. PROPER TALENT IS NOT JUDGED. WHAT IS THE USE OF SITTING JUDGES THEN ? IT IS HUMILIATING TO OTHER CONTESTANTS. THESE HAS BECOME A GREAT BUSINESS SHOW NOW BY FOOLING THE MILLION OF PEOPLE.

It is high time such contests are banned as more than making an idol, they make millions. In earlier cases also there were better contestants (I do not say Tamang does not reserve it). The pomp and show make the gullible public hysterical as if they do not have any other job to do.

The whole SMS thing is a ploy by the mobile services companies to make money. Millions of Indians (read fools) SMS their candidate and in the bargain the mobile services companies make pots of money and there is a profit sharing arrangement with the TV channel and the Producers of the show. An Indian Idol (or any Idol) cannot be chosen by mere votes of ordinary people, vast majority of who do not know much about music. The verdict of eminent judges like Javed Akhtar and Anu Malik should be final - that chosen person can truly be called Indian idol.

Guys .. don't forget that, this is an Indian Idol competition and the Idol should be selected by all indians not by few people considered as Judge. If people doesn't have sense to choose proper talent then there is problem in us not in TV Show's arrangement. Guys in my opinion in this kind of competition voting via SMS or CALL is the best idea to get people's involvement.

I fully agree with you and would like but it should be free SMS and not Rs. 3.00. I would suggest that it should have toll free numbers then only we can have a real Idol ib making. If you look at Indian Idol 2 Karunya was much deserving candidate but he did not win. In the current edition it was Emon. But in both the cases it was surprise from the local voting.

i think that all the idol contestants were equally talented. the radio jockey cannot insult any singer on radio. even thogh i was supporting amit , but still prashant was also a good singer. but stopping an amublance was really bad. amit, chang , prashant ,parleen were all good singers.

I dont understand why do people get so emotional on something like Indian Idol. A humorous remark from an RJ has caused even India-Nepal divide. Just relax people. Don't get down to mudslinging for such trivial issues. Worry about a lot of other bigger problems. Anyways, none of us are going to remember any of these Idols after a month so why fight.
