Did you happen to look at the Coca Cola ad where he played the Nepali guy? I think RGV must be busy making Antara Mali Naach then ;)

Please see again following "sarfarosh" scenes where he simply narrates the dialogues. 1. When Aamir tires to talk to sonali on the bus stop for first time, his expression and body langauge doesnt show any hesitation. 2. When sonali comes to Aamir's shop, Aaamir's bhabhi jokes with Aamir about he being the ownwer of the shop. See the response of Aamir, it was so plain and dumb.

Ritu,I am sorry that I have to totally disagree with you. I have seen Sarfarosh umpteen times and I have to say this --it is IMO aamir's best film and he has given a soft dignified and understated performance, standing up to an actor like Naseeruddin Shah.In the two scenes you mentioned,he is just right, not overeacting like any other actor. In real life most people react in the manner Aamir does. We don't roll our eyes or make exaggerated movements. I feel such nit picking criticism is extremely unfair. And as for RGV's remakes, for God's sake that man is untrustworthy as far as comments go.He is always shooting his mouth off speaking disparagingly about SRK and KJ these days, about Aamir after the 1995 release of Rangeela[and all because of his own personal disequation or problem with the actor]. In Rangeela Aamir was fabulous and funny.

Lalitha, The problem with those two scenes is that you always see "aamir khan" and not the character. And for the same reason, from most of aamir's films we remember aamir and not the character he is played. Keeping stright expressionless face doesnt mean you doing right and also having a great smile doesnt mean you are good actor. One more scene i remember where he did bad in "Hum hai rahi pyar ke", the scene in which he comes to know that the kids went out last might. There is no disbelief/surprise in his expression about that incident. just plain he puts his hand on his head and narrates the dialouges.

OK,have it your way,you think he is an ordinary or less than ordinary actor and I think he has simply improved with every film.In fact Aamir gets under the skin of his characters and makes you forget the star.Quite a few critics have said this. Many Indian superstars do end up playing themselves rather than the character. In Sarfarosh and Lagaan, even in the much maligned[yet appreciated by some critics and fans]MangalPandey, other films too Aamir is remembered for being ACP Rathod , the villager Bhuvan, whoever. I appreciate your viewpoint but cannot agree. However I do agree that in HHRPK he did perform in a manner that called for improvement. Those were his early years;in films like Rangeela and Ghulam he was excellent.

Sanchita in RDB he was not a student(if you remember the film correctly) !! So make valid comments.. HE ROCKED IN RDB Fanna was not a good movie !!
Lets face the fact there are very talented actors in the queue from french, germany, spain, chinese etc, if hollywod ever prefer a charater to forward to any non-american actor inspite of the script demand.
They will only take indians if they need a indian / (& now mid eastern) character. They won't just ask amir khan or ashiwarya rai to replace brad pitt or linsey lohan. They hardly prefer british actors. How many movies made in hollywood have british actors anyways though they suit the color charater & work hard on their accent - 2%, that too may be becoz director/ producer happen to be british.
Is bollywood actors dreaming to be picked in spite of all the british, australian,Irish, french, greman??!!! - if not then don't bluntly say that i get so many offers, whom are you kidding anyways.
and blunt journalist of india when will they stop throwing this funny Q at every other actor??
RE:Hollywood Yeah why not
by Lalitha Subramanian on Mar 16, 2007 09:45 AM
Over a year and half back,Aamir was offered a lead role by a well-known Taiwnese director[who was present at the Locarno film fest where Mangal Pandey was premiered].Aamir rejected this offer for reasons known to him; he he is choosy in India and and he would naturally be especially choosy with a foreign project. Soon after Lagaan won an Oscar nomination,Aamir is said to have been offered a bunch of roles in Hollywood. He did not take up any, preferring to take on the Mangal Pandey role[and it was a decent film;it has its fans, whatever some critics may say].Even the great Naseeruddin Shah made a mistake in accepting the role in a Hollywood adventure movie[The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen]. SRK,Aamir, many more of our Indian actors are said to be getting frequent film offers from outside India, but our actors are obviously sensible enough to do Indian films of consequence than be a minor player in any odd film. Why insult Aamir and his colleagues in the Hindi film industry by asking 'whom are you kidding anyways'.
