kireedam is a good film.dont try to compare this film with the original film acted by mohanlal in 1989.the present tamil films are very very different frm malayalam films of 80's.so pls stop the unwanted criticism over debutant director vijay and AJITH.this film is better than waste masala films.it gives a message to the youth.welldone ajith and the whole team.

kireedam is excellent.it doesnt matter what u people jealous of ajit criticise.no hero in tamil film industry can carry the role of sakthivel with so much charm ,dignity and aplomb.hats off to debutant director vijay.in this era of masala films with meaningless stories, kuthu songs and unrealistic heroism he made a meaningful film.malayam films in 80s projected realism .now even they cant make or remake films like this.please try to appreciate these kind of quality films.once again kudos to ajit and director vijay for this quality presentation.

Movie is a waste of time and effort...Super disappointment..Will wither out of theaters in few weeks...If I want to watch this movie, I am better off watching the original..sorry.

Hats-off Ajith...
by Vidhya boopalan on Jul 31, 2007 03:36 PM

Totally a biased review Rediff, it would be really healthier if you could ask your reviewers to watch the movie before reviewing it!!!

A quality movie from Ajith after a long time!!!

Regarding the discussion that%u2019s happening between tamil and malu guys, malu guys plz do accept that even malu movies are turning commercialized now-a-days. So both tamil and malu movies are in same boat. Stop comparing and start changing from your side it would serve the purpose of making quality movies. Back to Kreedom-Tamil version, for plp who think entertainment is just songs with peppy song beats and noisy fight sequences... Please think again leaving the dependencies and hero worship attitude%u2026 A good story is the one which could make our hearts feel heavier when you come out of theater. If you have a habit of reading books then you would accept it and the movie Kreedom is of that sort. Only so called quality (a) masala movies will have such cosmetic add-ons to entertain hero worship, no novel or good movie need them. At the end it%u2019s the soul of the story which will remain. Hats-off Ajith... Please don't fall again into so called heroism... Try to give more such simple and elegant movies... You would definitely attain what you need to get at the end!!!

Contradictory, I watched 'Pokkiri' after reading the review from Rediff. I could not sustain for even few hours%u2026 Even a 10 years old kid sitting next to me was commenting on the horrific dance choreography and dia

Priceless!
by Keerikkadan on Jul 29, 2007 08:26 PM  | Hide replies

Ajit%u2019s Kireedam climax has been changed on the request of audiences and fans of the actor. Now the climax has been re-edited, with a positive ending, and will be screened in all theatres across Tamilnadu from Sunday (July 29) evening.

In the new climax, hero Sakthivel (Ajit) after killing the notorious criminal wanted by the police, a voice-over with the Madras High Court in the background says that Sakthi is pardoned. Later he gets a medal from the President of India and the film ends with a shot of Ajit coming in police uniform and saluting his dad.

"Later he gets a medal from the President of India and the film ends with a shot of Ajit coming in police uniform and saluting his dad."

un-believable. they made an ok remake, but now it has become laughable. Ajit doesnt want to make a single quality movie.

Top kannada films this week
by nadal on Jul 27, 2007 04:56 PM  | Hide replies

Bangalore, July 27 (IANS) After over 30 weeks, "Mungaru Male" has yielded the top place on this list to Ganesh-starrer "Cheluvina Chiththaara".

Here are the top five Kannada films:

1) "Cheluvina Chiththaara": After four weeks, "Cheluvina Chiththaara" seems set to break the records set by "Mungaru Male". The film directed by S. Narayan

2) "Mungaru Male": The film is regarded as the biggest hit ever in southern Indian cinema. It has given a big boost to all the artistes and technicians who have worked for it. Even in its 33rd week, the film is attracting huge crowds.

3) "Duniya": On the verge of its silver jubilee, the film is still running well in all major centres. "Duniya" has been the surprise of the year. Director Soori and hero Vijay have already become big names.

4) "Santha": This too has been able to survive the onslaught of new releases. Starring Shivaraj Kumar, it has earned profits for its producers, though collections in the interior areas of Karnataka have not been encouraging.

5) "Sathyavaan Saavithri": Actor Ramesh Arvind's second directorial venture is a moderate success. The trendy and glamorous film is attracting the young crowd.

Watch Kireedam(original)
by Rashid on Jul 26, 2007 02:04 PM

Watch the climax scene of original kireedam, which helped mohanlal to nominate for his first national award.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXcUlS5P9Js

The film is brilliant in technical aspects too. Cinematography by one of the best cinematographers in India, Venu (who passed out from FTII Pune along with santhosh sivan) which was very realastic and avoids gimmics.Venu has wielded the camera of several bengali award winning films too.

The action scenes are choreographed so natuarrally without giving any filmy flavour.

Sivaji is released only a month before. Count how many theaters in kerala is palying the film now. Its been taken from most of the centers.Agreed there was a national level hype for that film.

Your second point Ok..Mammooty is not handsome,Mohanlal too, suresh gopi is not.Prithviraj is not, jayaram and mukesh are not.

But one thing is true...malayalees accept acting credentials than looks.otherwise actors like shankar, vineeth, rehman and kunchacko boban would have been superstars.

Yes..I do agree, malayalam film industry is not even half in size of tamil. It's bcoz of the size of the state and the population also. But that doesnt make malayalam films inferior to tamil.

infact bengal produces more quality films than malayalam though its a much smaller industry. All serious movie lovers would accept that.

I can't imagine. how could you spit this much of hatred towards a nighbouring states. One thing is understood that you have never seen malayalam films other than those porns which malayalees do not watch. Manichithrathazhu has ashared the presidents medal for the best popular film with wholesome entertainment made in the country with sharuk's Darr in 1992 national awards. I think its a miracle to get that award to a non hindi film. The film had run 365 days continuously in Kerala and I bet you could hardly find a malayalee who has not watched that movie more than once.

Coming back to art sector ,movies of Aravindan,Adoor and shaji.N.Karun were neverportraid poverty of India unlike some of the satyajith rai films. I'm not going to comment on it since you would never watch those types of thought provoking ventures. But they are the most popular Indian directors across the world. They have never drawn inspiration from hollywood. Infact hollywood makes the most number of junk films.

The 72 theater release of shivaji is not a miracle. A small budget hi-def movie called moonnamathoral planned to release in 100 theaters last year but due to the opposition of producers they couldnt able to get theaters in cities. The rule by producers chamber is that a malayalam movie should release only in the 48 releasing centers and other language movies are exempetd from this. And whats this big difference. Mohanlal's Chota mumbai released in 60 screens and shivaji released in 72. Chota mumbai

He calls himself as thalai in all his movies n he has done it again in kireedom in his intro song.. His dance alone can be considered as comedy sequences, Vivek jus comes in n irritates everybody...
Kireedom is not worth for what we pay...

RE:Ajith's flop list continues....
by PREM ANAND on Jul 26, 2007 02:43 PM
If you look back at history none of the distributors and exhibitors of Ajith's movie has ever asked the producer and the actor to pay back their dues as the movie is a flop.

This is mainly because Ajith'a films can rake up the necessary money just with its bumper opening, which is not there for any other tamil actor other than Rajini and Ajith.

Sadly, my friend, you are also exhibiting your 'ignorance' about hits.

Red, Jee & ofcourse Alwar cannot be termed as flops. It got back its investors its money and a share of profit too.

Attakasam and Paramasivam are hits - (Check out the news in 'The Hindu' which states within five of its release that Paramasivam is a hit).

As far as Raja, Aanjaneya, Jana is concerned, yes they didn't do well but the distributors or theatre owneres were not affected since none of them demanded a compensation form the actor or the producer -- which has happened in movies like 'Nenjiniley' 'Minsaara Kannaa' 'Aathi' etc., as these movies bombed and even on the second day the theatres were empty (Though the movies 'run' for 100 days).
