Rang de basanti sailed in india only because of marketing. There is nothing in the movie that might catch attention. It's easy to fool indians but as expected, that didn't cut much ice among westerners. Good that the silly-joke is out of the race.
how much an english movie convinces an average indian?? same rule applies the other way too. So don't sweat out it getting the movies nominated there. Make good movies and if you can do some good to the society or get into the hearts of your own people ..then you have won!
So, try to make movies to "win" hearts. Forget Oscar or for that matter any other awards. Remember this fact. Brain and heart sounds like two isolated entities. If your movie can connect them, then you have really "won"
