I think you havn't understood the movie yet. Go and watch it again, u will get the message about how corruption took the life of our Indian Air Pilot. Nothing is more prestigious then the pride of our Nation. But Corruption is taking the lives of Indian Army who are fighting so we can sleep happily.

I don't think in the movies they have shown the central character of age 40. However, more then taporigiri the movie was about patriotism. You may be smart, intelligence and shopisticated, but what if you can;t do anything for your nation.

For your kind information, the movie was a awakening for the mass and was proven in our society itself. And more over there was a genuine cause for which the martyrs had given there life as in the movie, I have witnessed the same happened to my frd who was a mig pilot. He had to crash land due to engine failure. Please this was taken on real incident and yes being a youth awakening it requires an applause, though I knew it won't get OSCAR though.
But please don't try criticizing the movie.

Snubbing

Why do we cry for Rang de basanti for not making it to the oscars. If you take IIFA awads it says India International Film Awards but the nominations for the awards is all Hindi movies, no movies from Malayalam or Tamil or Bengali or any other language spoken in India is there for the nomination. If India snubs its own movies produced in other languages of India then what is the use of crying for Hindi movie not making it for the oscars.Charity begins at home first give respect to the other language movies being done in India.I dont think so if Mohanlal Mammooty or Kamalhasan movies are put up for nominations along with Shah Rukh or Aamir, I dont think Shah rukh or Aamir will stand a chance in getting IIFA awards, hope some sense prevails on Indian movie goers that it is not tht Hindi films are the only one's being produced in India rather there are other good and better language movies also being done in India.

RDB was a bad movie
by Ankur Vyas on Jan 17, 2007 12:56 PM  | Hide replies

RDB was a bad movie. Message given in the movie was good only for terrorists. You don't start killing people, if you don't agree with them. So, it was perfect decision regarding RDB. But I am surprised they did not select LRMB. It is really surprising that western people are still have dislike for Gandhiji. When world is suffering from so much violence, he can be real roll model for peace.

Hi.
The movie was about how a tapori going college guy who doesn't have any feeling for there nation changes them for patriotism.

You have to fight for your rights.

As far as movie is concern, You may think it is a bad movie, but the nation taught it was a fantastic movie, else it would have gone in garbage.

whats in whats out

The snubbing will continue if quality cinema is not sent out to the jury out there. Like someone rightly pointed out, the south and east make real good cinema which never get recognition ... if the esteemed comittee sees them as Indian movies we have better chances. The west hardly knows India minus hindi. It's something we can change if we choose to. Sending commercial successes and some odd movies which have period movie like qualities is just so non-intelligent. Anyway, if international recognition is never the agenda then why bother? International acclaim will keep rolling in through film festivals and the like. If Water wins it'll be a slap in the faces of the detractors. I hope it does.

Why should we giving huge publicity for American NAtional Award OSCARS ????
Indian Film Industry is bigger than Hollywood...If Mohanlal or Kamal Hassan Acted in Hollywood films they would defintely have added a few oscars with them...

expected result-looslely based on Ankush
by PD on Jan 17, 2007 12:48 PM

RDB is not-at-all a great film. It is loosely based on a classic film, Ankush, starring Nana Patekar and gang (what a fantastic performance from every actor..!). Actually, Ankush goes logically, RDB lacks any logic.. Relax..It was expected.
