who's in, who's out

The snubbing will continue if quality cinema is not sent out to the jury out there. Like someone rightly pointed out, the south and east make real good cinema which never get recognition ... if the esteemed comittee sees them as Indian movies we have better chances. The west hardly knows India minus hindi. It's something we can change if we choose to. Sending commercial successes and some odd movies which have period movie like qualities is just so non-intelligent. Anyway, if international recognition is never the agenda then why bother? International acclaim will keep rolling in through film festivals and the like. If Water wins it'll be a slap in the faces of the detractors. I hope it does.

Rang De Basanti is a revolution and not just a film

It is the need of an hour. Oscar cant understand, that the in India MP/MLA first rape child girls in night and then come in suits in morning to sign some nuclear deal. Oscar cant understand that even in the coffin of soldiers who died in kargil, Ministers make money in India. Rang De Basanti is much more above movie. 3 cheers to Amir Khan. We the young generation is with you. you dont worry.

No oscar for anti-institution movies
by kaustubh saha on Jan 17, 2007 12:28 PM

As expected. Anti-institution movies rarely get a nod for Oscar. Thats why Martin Scorcese never received an Oscar
