Gone are the days of Rekhajee, in the films like khoon bhari maang and those of her in bahu role were really good and she carried on the film well. In the recent past the films like fiza,shakti and page3 remind me of some heroine oriented films. But the number is small. If you look at the south as well - we find more of violence oriented films. So I opine that,A change in public outlook and the change in the attitude of producers and directors alone can give us some good to watch movies.

In Hindi film industry we have seen movies like Dor (by Nagesh) which portray women in a different role. It was a women-centric movie. Fanaa also had spectacular acting by Kajol and it was a great hit even (inspite of some political parties did not like it).

very true, bollywood has got bored of heroines, just see hollywood, charles angels, kill bill, the heroines have proved themselves as real action girls showing glamour & talent at the same time. in bollywood, heroines are used for shaking their ass & boobs. they actually have no importance.
Bollywood had started hero oriented movies b'coz the bollywood film industry is an industry which has individualistic self centred people the main object for these movie is to show the hero as a superman a person who can do anything and anywhere,secondly the movies mainly depend on beautiful songs and locations there is no story line for them a story which is different from other movies but naturally get a big flop or it is termed arty movies the actors in the bollywood movies just refuse to act in a different setup of the movie, and said that it is the public demand which we cater to, in this scenario came a crop of movie directors who made very good movies in all sphere- comedy, serious, and social and won the audience appluase b'coz of which the regular actors of bollywood took interest in it and asked the director to direct them in the movie these types of actors were the ones who had a fagging career but with these type of movie their carrers were lifted considerably.
I think that we dont have heroines who can act . Preity , Ash dont know how to act. Rani is ok but looks yuck, Kajol is too good , but looks old. I guess we dont have a new crop of heroines who can shoulder a film . Guess Bips in 'corporate' was cool. Other than that, nothing much to talk about.
Aishwarya Rai is one bollywood heroine who is very hyped just b'coz of her beauty she has got lot of coverage as for her histronics she has failed miserably. Next in line is kareena kapoor she is in the movies b'coz of her filmy background, there r lot of talented heroines at present who can give a run for money mainly Konkona Sen, Sonali Kulkarni, Bipasha Basu but b'coz they r not from the filmy background or punjabi orgin they r not getting films or talked about, but with their histronics they have proved they r very talented
Bollywood heroines are more looking like factory makes, standard shape and size. The oomph of buxom heroines is truly missing. Everybody is so shapely and well arranged with silicon endowments that you feel bored of them.
It is more and more becoming a field for star kids. Just think about it buxom beauties like meghana naidu and poonam jhawer are not getting much of attention
