probably has to do with balaji
by rayker on Jan 02, 2007 07:45 PM  | Hide replies

there's a whole lot of people, women mostly, watching a ton of balaji soaps. i guess there's not much market for stories about men. men watch action oriented movies, sports and other stuff. another twist is that women are admired by men in specialized item numbers. the shift in tv viewing pattern will be missed by most for sure. tv is almost as big as movies now - heck, even news is big as tele-soaps. its a confused fragmented market. i welcome the emergence of more opportunities for all concerned, rather than only a shah rukh khan with his limited acting skills hogging the headlines and the money, or a bacchan raking in all the moolah. let there be more of this confusion! hello 2007!

What a male chauvinistic opinion !!!Ma wen it comes to praise hollyood heroines n movies .u r very kind .. Admiring a demi moore , or Julia robrts ....Meg ryan ..Most of these are 7-10 years older than their bolly countrprts ... n doin well too.... Admiration never comes easy .. @33 u say they are old ?/ acting prowess is wat matters .. (Look Kajol , Watch madhuri in DTPH n w her upcoming film )... ..

they all are only in their 30's there is no way they will be fit for a mothers role even in 10-15 years time.
and even though I am 23 I find all of them very cute.

Is Bollywood bored of heroines?

We are actually bored with the bollywood heroines. Preity Zinta, Rani Mukhergy,Aishwarya Rai etc. are old enough for mother roles. Really fed up with their wrinkled faces.

Correct. All aunties. They deserve to come in guest roles and nothing more. And anyone who comes in wants to get famous in 1 outing and everyone is kind of fed up seeing "thunder" thighs and deep navels.

How rude! This is typical indian mail attitude. It is time for you to get out of your ma's lap and grow up! Go for an eye test if you see wrinkles on the faces of the heroines you mentioned.

Heroine/Hero - 2006
by Sumit on Jan 02, 2007 05:55 PM  | Hide replies

Although there were some good heroine oriented films in 2006 (like Corporate, Dor), I agree that that 2006 belonged to the heroes.
Indian Film Industry is back to it\\\'s hero worship days where horribly scripted films (Kkrish, Dhoom 2) work only because of the hero being too good.
But on the other hand, there are some well written films as well - RDB, LRMB, Khosla ka ghosla, etc.

It is good that hero worship is back and mix it with good scripts/screenplays (omkara) and soon Hollywood will be wondering when their films will get an IIFA or Filmfare award.

Hello Mr. Ha ha aka vj,

I appreciate your comments about people being silly and going to the extent of building temples for film stars. But your comments of "...these funny madrasis.." doesn't sound appropriate in a public forum like this. Let us try to have healthy discussions that address the key issue leaving out unnecessary personal opinions.

There is no scarcity of heroines, only we are not searching properly and sometimes people dont get opprtunities to show their talent. dont make temples for heroines better utilise that amount for som good purpose

You idiot vj! You don't go to a temple where Nagma is the presiding deity and pray for her success. She is the Goddess, you stupid fool. WSo, you go and worship at her feet and ask for blessings. Just like you'd go into a Lakshmi temple or Shakti temple!

yeah south indian films are good rather then bollywood, In south indian films there will be a good story and all the family members can watch, now the bollywood is full of exposing and also its full of urdhu, no hindi and the songs will be based on only allah,rabba,moula,... ya ali, subhan allah etc...etc..

And fanaa is the worst movie, the film favours the terorrism and you people praising it, you people just want to have fun, but not interested in religion and culture.
But in south indian films we can find culture and there will be songs on hindu gods and godesses

There should be fresh talent entry. Also its my personal opinion, there's bad selection of heroines caste in some films. I don't watch movie starring Priyanka Chopra as she does'nt impresses me at all. There should be more quality artists into industry. I feel film makers are more keen in giving item numbers rather than quality heroines. If we rememeber, how Madhuri films used to give such crowd pulling, even the chemistry of Ram Gopal Verma and Urmila used to do wonders. So intelligent people realise this like what Mahesh Bhatt did for movies like Gangster nowdays.
