karamchand was my favourite detective serial. even the title song was great with hands sliding by with red background. i saw the new serial karamchand this saturday. pankaj kapur\'s using his fingers tapping his forehead is always memorable. and the point where he turns serious from comedy when things go wrong is the same as in original. all the best to karamchand. wont miss a single episode.
my other DD fav serials were humlog (great sets), buniyaad (hardly any makeups), subah, quile ka rahasya, nukkad (simple yet elegant set), mr. yogi, sigma, indradhanush and also chitrahaar and the sunday evening movie (beautiful evenings). also the other simple programs with simple backgrounds.
the serials these days are sick. irritated by those sudden dashing sounds and camera zooms.
looking at list of old dd serials i am thinking of the unepected black outs so common in those days(we didn't have inverters or generators that common then ) , i would literally pray with folded hands not to have black outs during chitrahaar and sunday movie ...good old innocent days .
when people tak abt the oldies on DD, how can v forget the ever informative SURBHI, the bengali detective BYOMKESH BAKSHI, the bachelor always--MR YOGI, and the ever green 6:30 pm slot occupied by KRISHI DARSHAN :)

Hey, your last line was really gr8 rememberence of our old DD and atleast my childhood "Rukawat Ke Liye Khed Hai", my favourite.
Despite growin up on D.D serials(even after cable had come in for a long time), I'd somehow just started thinking of D.D these days as a channel people watch only when they're forced to, with shoody production and quality as compared to the private channels. But reading all the names of the serials on D.D made me feel so nostalgic,-they were so many and so good and just as someone here said rightly, provided wholesome complete family entertainment, those hrs. were truly bliss! I gave up trying to watch or atleast get addicted to any of the present saas bahu serials long time back-they r completely illogical , over the top, ridiculously scripted and never, ever, ever end! And i wonder why Ekta Kapoor actually denies that her serials r regressive or even seriously says that they promote modern outlook-someone shud tell her modernity goes much further than than rich bahus wearing backless blouses and that characterisation is much more complex than showing either sickeningly sweet and boringly 'virtuous' Parvatis or unbelievably infalliable n' super mean Kamolikas with all their twisted facial expressions! Waise why just blame Ekta Kapoor, haven't the others too like BAg films and others joined the bandwagon long back. I honsetly prefer reality shows to these serials-atleast they provide more realistic entertainment. And if all those old D.D serials named here were to make a comeback, I wud any day vote for D.D and be completely satisfied by it! They were too good!
"Darpan" the Serial Which based on great writer like Premchand that stories are real life.it should telecast.Today's serial are obscence & full of Hatred .M.F Ahmed
Also Add: Guldasta-(Starring Navin Nischol) Intezar Hum Hindustani-(Late Ashok Kumar) Mirza Ghalib-(Naseeruddin Shah) Hakke Bakke-(Anil Biswani...May be not right actor's name...but serial do exist)...& more..etc
Great were...those days with DD'..Not so many serials but good & today are some good but out of so many serials.....almost some are of same story line of not other than family disputes/jealousies.etc..so, not worth to bare time for same crap....it's good if we have serials for family disputes solutions than showing only family disputes with no solution..as it is seen at home & might benefit for those who are the cause of troubles in domestic violence. But, today's film making technology is no doubt far better than earlier..& it's marvellous.
